Obituary: Services for LTC (Ret) Robert (Bob) LaMonte will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove on 25th, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Central Texas Veterans . Bob, 85, passed away , 12, 2015. He was born in Queens, New York on 27, 1929. graduating from Huntington High School in 1949, he joined and served in the Navy for a short time. In 1952, he married his beloved wife of 62 years, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Forde, a native of Northport, NY. He served in Korea and later 3 tours in Vietnam. Bob retired from the Army in of 1976 at Ft. Hood after serving 27 years active duty. retirement, Bob earned a master's degree in business management and later taught upper-level business courses at Tarleton State University, Killeen, Texas for 18 years. He served in the Army Reserve as well as the National and Texas Guards. Bob also worked for the United States Army Operational Test Command on West Fort Hood, finally fully retired, at the age of 81, with over 61 years of military and civilian service to his country. Bob enjoyed serving his community and was a member of many groups to include Central Texas Mended Hearts and American Heart Association; Copperas Cove Morning Exchange Club, Police and Fire Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and Military Affairs. Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Copperas Cove where he volunteered and served on many committees. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, a brother Allen LaMonte of Fairfax, Virginia; a son Larry LaMonte of Copperas Cove, 3 daughters; Lyn Cox of Austin, Jan Adkins and her husband Gary of Pflugerville, and Michaelle Pitrucha and her husband Jeff of Copperas Cove; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, four nephews and one niece, as well cousins and 2 adopted children who had been a part of his life for many years. If you would like to make a donation in Bobs honor, the family has chosen Grace United Methodist Church of Copperas Cove and The Wounded Warrior Project. Obituary: I shall pass through this world but once; Therefore, any good I can do, Let me not defer it nor neglect it, For I shall not pass this way again. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated for James C. Lamont, 88, of Lufkin, at 11:30 a.m. , 24, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Fr. Frances ODowd, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest . Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. evening at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mr. Lamont began his trek through this world on 9, 1926 in Manning, Texas. He passed away , 21, 2014 at his residence. He was the fourth child of Antonina Cartozza and Victor Louis Lamont. Jim treasured his family and his Italian heritage. A 1944 graduate of Lufkin High School, Jim remained a Panther fan throughout his life. A few months after graduation, he attended boot camp in Fort Ord, California in preparation for his time in the United States Army in Korea. Returning home, he worked for Lufkin Industries for 36 years before retiring as Traffic Manager. Around 1931, his father moved to Lufkin and opened a shoe repair shop, where Jim and his brothers took turns pedaling the stitcher. Also, during these earlier years, Jim and his brothers Sam and John served as altar boys at St. Patrick Catholic Church on the corner of Ellis and Raguet in Lufkin. Jim would serve throughout most of his early 80s. His love of God was begun by his devoted mother Lena and strengthened by his role as altar boy for the many LaSalette priests who served at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A charter member of the Father Fraher Council 3404 Knights of Columbus, Jim also gave his time and talents as president of the Holy Name Society, treasurer of St. Patrick Catholic School Board, CCD teacher, secretary of the Diocesan (Laity Council), Parish Council Member, Mens Retreat Captain, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and choir member. Graced with a heart of seemingly endless love, Jim influenced many family and friends to recognize and accept God and His gifts in their lives. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Case Lamont; sister, Mary Jane Terry and husband Leroy; brother, Victor Lamont, Jr.; grandchildren, Jad and Jacqui OConnor; and numerous nieces and nephews, each one the apple of his eye. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam (Modina) and John (Dorothe); sisters, Ann Hill (Joe), Rose Mary Nicholson; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Brown Lamont. Special thanks to the staffs of Dr. Jerry Spinks, Hunter Looney, Ravinder Bachireddy; Patricia Powell, Bobbie and Charlie Walker K Cs, John, Joann and Jeff Permenter.
