Obituary: James Henry LaBauve Jr. left this life 17, 2016 at the age of 67. James is survived by his wife Ellen R. LaBauve, children James H. LaBauve III (Bubba) born 24, 1972 and Tammara Rene LaBauve Burch born 21, 1974. James leaves twelve grandchildren. From Bubba: Justin, Brittany, Hunter, Zachary, Heather, Savannah, Harvey, and Keagan. From Tammara: Hailey, Ashley, Coby and Zoey. James leaves one great grandchild Jason Scott Reeves Jr. He also leaves brother Lucius and sister- in- law Connie, nieces Jess LaBauve and Natalie LaBauve Kliebert. Also his brother Llewellyn LaBauve and sister-in -law Sabrina, niece Amanda LaBauve Merritt, nephews Michael, Quincy, and RJ. James is also survived by his lifetime friend Tony Franks and his wife Mary. Also nephews and nieces James, Jason, Kimberly, Jasmine, Adrian and Xavier. James was born 21, 1949 in Hammond, Louisiana to James Henry LaBauve, Sr. and Marie M. Cowan LaBauve. He is predeceased by his mother Marie M. LaBauve on 9, 2016 in Thibodaux, Louisiana and his father James H LaBauve Sr. on 29, 1992 in Belle Rose, Louisiana. He spent his youth on Moline Street in Lake Charles, and also in Des Allemands and Thibodaux Louisiana. He worked at a local grocery store while in Des Allemands and had a successful Grit newspaper route while young. He also spent several years helping his Grandpa Thomas Lucius Cowan with his dairy farm in Tickfaw, Louisiana where he helped milk fifty head of Holstein cows twice a day. He rode a horse to schools in Albany and Notalbany, Louisiana and ran the woods on his Cushman scooter. He returned to Thibodaux after a disagreement with his grandfather and graduated from Thibodaux Senior High in Spring 1967. James worked at a drapery shop while in high school. He traveled to Chicago, Illinois and attended DeVry University. He was drafted and returned to Louisiana where he earned a 4F classification due to a spinal deformity. He always laughed the Armed Forces would take a blind man before they would take him. He was unable to serve his country and he carried that disappointment with him his entire life. he was turned down for military service, he was unable to return to Chicago for school because the semester had already started. He worked with his dad in gas plant construction, attended two semesters at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, and purchased his own small home near the university campus. One day a man needed a helper to deliver a mobile home from Thibodaux to El Paso, Texas. James signed on to help and the truck delivering the mobile home broke down near Friendswood Texas. He never made it to El Paso, choosing a gas plant job near FM 2351 and the Gulf Freeway. He lived for a time on Lindencrest Street in Houston TX near Hobby Airport with the Thomas and Rose Cooper family. Through them he met and married his first wife Connie L. Franks on 2, 1971. James worked at the Continental Emsco for twelve years and ran his own recycling/tractor businesses most of his adult life. From his time at Emsco he met lifetime friends Mack and Debbie LaRoy. He was hired by Phillips 66 as an Operator and he survived the Phillips 66 Plant explosion on 23, 1989. Twenty-three of his coworkers died that day. James had traded shifts with a coworker who was a victim of the explosion. As part of the fire rescue team he discovered his coworkers remains. James eventually sought treatment from Synergy, under the care of Dr. Blanca Diez. While there he met lifetime friends Audrey King and Becky Eadl Stocker and Eddie Stocker. James first marriage ended in divorced in 1990. James married Ellen Claire Rodrigue on 15, 1994. He continued to work in his recycling/tractor businesses and opened Coons Cycles in 1994. He lived his dream for nine years until he had to close the shop for economic reasons. Through his marriage to Ellen, James leaves sisters-in-law Kay M. Rodrigue and Nancy R. Cook, nieces Christine, Joanne, Nancy, and Yvonne. He also is survived by nephew Grant, and his wife Mona. He leaves nephew Cook, currently serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS John C Stennis. James and Ellen enjoyed their time together. traveled to Tennessee, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco and Arkansas. Ellens breast cancer treatment in 2006 they traveled by train from Chicago, Illinois to Portland, Oregon where they rented a car and toured the state including beautiful Crater Lake. Ellens metastatic breast cancer diagnosis in 2014 was handled, as always, as a couple. James devotion to helping his wife through her illness was extraordinary. Their last trips together were to the San Antonio Riverwalk in and Charlotte, NC in 2016. James was able to tour the NASCAR, Billy Graham, and the Richard Petty Museums before returning to Houston 23, 2016. He became ill on the trip home and was hospitalized for three weeks where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer to the colon, brain, shoulder, and liver. James entered Hospice care and passed away peacefully in his own home. He was a Mason for over twenty-five years and was Past Master of Alvin Lodge #762 from 1997-98. He also obtained the 32nd degree Scottish Rite. James enjoyed life to the fullest. When he owned Coons Cycles he traveled to the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, and Roswell, NM. the shop closed he enjoyed Cruising the Coast in Biloxi MS with his brother Llewelyn in his one of a kind Rat Rod. He was a constant at car shows in the Pearland/Alvin/Kemah area with longtime friend Scott Medve. Obituary: Anna Mae Guidry Labatut, age 91, passed away 4, 2014. She was a loving, strong and courageous woman, devout in her Catholic faith. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, AJ Labatut Jr; Arthur Joseph Labatut III, her son; and parents, Stella Rosselli Guidry and Henry Guidry, Sr and brother Ernest Guidry. Ann was a native of New Orleans born on 7, 1923. She grew up in New York City, returning to New Orleans in the early 1940’s with her parents and 6 siblings. In 1946, Ann and AJ Labatut were married. In the 1950’s, they moved to Pines Village where she and AJ were active in the new parish of Immaculate Heart of Mary. Survivors include : Lois Labatut Karno (Louis ); Elaine Labatut Lamb (Dorian); Ann Labatut; Janet Labatut Davies; Phyllis Labatut Baker (Burt); 10 grandchildren, Michele Hebert; Elizabeth Mayers Addington; Andriana Lamb Morris; Dorian Lamb; Jennifer Clesi Downing; Laura Clesi Brown; Daniel Baker; Grace Baker; Lydia Labatut Davies; Gloria Labatut Davies and 9 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Marie Windham, Shirley Sperier, Florence Ertel; and brothers, Henry Guidry and Ronald Guidry. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, a marvelous hostess and a favorite godmother and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Obituary: Mrs.T. Weir Nell Schreiner Labatt Jr. of San Antonio, born 20, 1916 in Kerrville, Texas died on , 9, 2001, after a ten-year battle with Alzheimers Disease. She was the great granddaughter of Captain Charles Schreiner, the head of a pioneer Alsacian family involved in general merchandise, banking, ranching, etc. in the hill country and Edwards Plateau regions of Texas. Her father was A.C.Junior Schreiner Jr. of Kerrville and her mother was Nellie Ganter Schreiner, originally from Glasgow, Kentucky. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville and then attended private school on the East Coast for two years. In 1936 she made her debut in San Antonio and was a visiting duchess in the Coronation of the Queen during the 1937 Fiesta Week. She married T. Weir Labatt Jr. on 4, 1938 and has lived in San Antonio since then, except for two years during World War II when she moved to Ogden, Utah to be with her husband, who was an officer in the US Navy. She lived in her home in Olmos Park for 61 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Junior League of San Antonio, San Antonio Country Club, and Shallow Water Navy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Schreiner Jr. of Kerrville; and her husband, T. Weir Labatt Jr. of San Antonio. She is survived by her two sons, Weir Labatt III and his wife, Laura, and Charles S. Labatt and his wife, Kathryn all of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Aimee S. Labatt Madden, her husband, Rodney and great granddaughter, Enderle Dallas, Thomas Labatt IV San Antonio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in San Antonio and Kerrville. She was kindly and graciously assisted the past years by Juanita Hernandez, Hejinia Del Rio, Elvira Perez, and Viola Stevens. Obituary: Gloria Bramlette Labatt died at home on May 28, 2010, at the age of 88. She was born in Ft. Worth on 5, 1922, the daughter of Frederick Levenworth Bramlette and Grace Jones Bramlette. She graduated from Alamo Heights High School. She attended Agnes Scott , and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas, where she also earned an M.A. in English with Professor Henry Nash Smith. She taught speech at Alamo Heights and English at Trinity University. In 1946 she married Blair Plowman Labatt, to whom she was married for 52 years, until his death in 2000. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, where like her own mother before her she served both as President of the Women of the Church and as a Ruling Elder. She also served on the board of the Community Guidance , and was Chair of the ecumenical project Trick or Treat for UNICEF. She was Chairman of the Board of the Sunshine Cottage. She participated in numerous activities of the Junior League, including visits to elementary schools to prepare the children for upcoming field trips to hear the San Antonio Symphony. She was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Alamo Heights School District, where she was a strong voice for excellence. She was one of the founders of the Trinity University Associates, and she served as a Trustee and Trustee Emerita of Trinity University for thirty-five years. She belonged to many clubs and associations, including Pi Beta Phi, the Fenwick Club, the Timely Topics, the Forum, the Argyle Club, the Assembly, the Pilon Club, and the San Antonio Country Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Frederick Erskine Bramlette. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Blair Plowman Labatt Jr. and Barbara; Grace Bramlette Labatt and Robert Swartz; Joseph Bramlette Labatt and Carolyn; and Frederick Bramlette Labatt and Raven. She has eight grandchildren: Annie Montgomery Labatt, Blair Plowman Labatt III, and Grace Bramlette Labatt; Roxana Gage Labatt, Camilla Bramlette Labatt, and Joseph Gage Labatt; Bramlette Margaret Labatt and Frederick Bramlette Labatt Jr. The family would like to thank Marcella Jimenez and the staff of Caring Nannies for their special help in the last few months.
