Obituary: Billie Carnell Herd LoCicero

COLUMBIA – Billie Carnell Herd LoCicero, of Columbia, died Sept. 20, 2017. Memorial services will be held at Union United Methodist Church, Irmo, on , Sept. 24, at 3:00 p.m. A visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the church service.

Mrs. LoCicero was born in Union, Mississippi, on 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry Grady Herd and Codie Jane Terrell Herd, of Union. graduating from Stamper Stratton High School and East Central Community , Mrs. LoCicero was employed by the Mississippi Extension Service, Decatur, and the Mississippi Employment Security Commission, Jackson.

A longtime member of Union, she was an active member of the Union United Methodist Women, a member of the Lillie Bouknight-Davis Circle, Leitner-Fellowship School Class and the Spirited Singers Choir. She also served on various committees and commissions.

A lover of music, art and poetry, Mrs. LoCicero was active in local art guilds, participating in one- and two-person exhibitions as well as local guild exhibitions. A watercolorist, she won many awards, and her works are in many private and corporate collections. She also designed and made three of the banners hanging in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. LoCicero is survived by her husband, James Santi LoCicero, of Columbia; her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dan Koon, of Columbia; her son and daughter-in-law, Geoff and Allison LoCicero, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Daniel and Anna Koon, of Columbia; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Sibyl Herd Phillips, Jean Herd Blackwell, Nina Lou Herd and Kay Herd Lloyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church Capital Fund, the Salvation Army Woodyard Fund in Columbia or Leeza’s Connection.

LEXINGTON - Konrad Lobocki, 88, beloved husband of 52 years to Adelaide Cowart Lobocki died , 7, 2012.
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 11, 2012 at Caughman-Harman , Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with interment in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Pastor Mark Bredholt will conduct the services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. , 10, 2012 at Caughman-Harman , Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 5692, Columbia, SC 29250-5692 or a charity of your choice.
Mr. Lobocki was born 28, 1923 in Kleck, Eastern Poland to the late Jan and Jadwiga Lobocki, nee Zasadzka and was baptized into Jesus Christ in the same year. He was preceded in death by sisters, Maria Kielbik; Katarzyna Krasowska; and Wanda Iilczyszyn. His education was in Nieswiez, Poland, continuing there when it was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1939, and later continuing his education in Regensburg, West Germany.
Mr. Lobocki was a Polish National Forces Veteran of WWII, fighting the German and Soviet Armies as both invaded Poland in , 1939. He was a former member of the Polish Ex-Combatants Association and the Polish Union in West Germany. While living in West Germany, he acted as Legal Advisor and Employment Officer for the American-Polish War Relief. The American-Polish War Relief Organization in Geneva, Switzerland recognized Mr. Lobocki for facilitating the integration of and for finding employment for the homeless war refugees in N. Bavaria, Wurttenberg-Hohenzollern, Rhineland-Pfalz and Hessen, Germany from , 1954 to , 1955. He also served in the Polish Labor Service Units with the United States Army.
In 1956, he enlisted in the U. S. Army in West Germany as part of a new program the Lodge Act Enlistee Program by Henry Cabot Lodge. He served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. 20 years of service, he retired from the U. S. Army as Master Sergeant. Among his decorations are Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.
Mr. Lobocki was also a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 7, Life Member of the 101st Airborne Division Association, the Retired Enlisted Association, the Polish Heritage Society South East and a member of the Polish Institute of Arts and Science.
Mr. Lobocki is survived by his wife; step children, Carol J. Landreth of West Columbia, Anita J. Patterson of Mt. Pleasant, John W. Jones (Dora) of Acworth, GA and Curtis C. Jones (Elaine) of Palos Verdes Est., CA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Diane Bolton and the staff at Agape and Oakhaven for their loving care during the past months.
