Obituary: Marcia Borin Lewis of Albany, Oregon passed peacefully on 2, 2015. She was born 2, 1915 in Hollywood, California to George and Metta Johnson. She is preceded in death by her husband Gilly (Leon Guilford Lewis) of Albany, Oregon; her first husband William A. (Bill) Borin of Lincoln, Nebraska; her sister Gele Webster and her brother Robert Johnson. Surviving are her two children: Kathleen (Borin) Kensmoe and Patrick W. Borin. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Tiffany Maw; Cory Maw; Kaleb & Joshua Kensmoe; four step-children: Jackie (Lewis) Cromer-Christensen; Sherri (Lewis) Wood; Carol (Lewis) Leckie; and Gig (Leon Guilford) Lewis. She also has 9 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. As a child she lived on a ranch in Carlsbad, CA with her parents, grandparents, and siblings. grew avocados; had a pet cow named Molly; and the rabbits came in-and-out of the house ïŠ. She took ballet and learned to play the piano. In her teenage years, the family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended Las Vegas High school and was salutatorian of her graduating class. college, she worked for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. In 1942, she married William A. (Bill) Borin and lived in various places while he was in the Army. his military service, they settled in Las Vegas. She was a devout Catholic involved with St. Annes church and Las Vegas Catholic Charities. The family lived in Las Vegas until 1958, and then moved to Ogden, Utah. The family home in Ogden was a warm and welcome gathering place and the center of birthday and holiday celebrations. Her cooking was INCREDIBLE and she loved to entertain. Summers were filled with outdoor barbeques, family, & friends. She was a member of P.E.O. and a blessing to those in need. She graciously accepted change and was always up for something new. From 1970 – 1990 she worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for St. Josephs Catholic Church in Ogden. In 1981, Bill passed away. In 1994, she married Gilly (Leon Guilford) Lewis and moved from Utah to his home in Albany. Her life with Gilly was blessed with his family; new friends; travel; and their CAT Kitty L. It was a new chapter in her life and she was touched by everyones love and acceptance. She continued to be a part of P.E.O. and thoroughly enjoyed her sisters and the mission. Sadly in 2002, Gilly passed away. Marcias door was always open to visitors and her hospitality was warm and comforting. She loved all types of music, entertainment, and her rose- garden. In 2013 she decided to move into the Mennonite Village in Albany, Oregon. The Village became her new home where she felt safe and comfortable. Her happy heart touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was playful; had a GREAT sense of humor; and was unbelievably RESILIENT in so many ways. She will forever be in our HEARTS and MEMORIES! A memorial Mass will be at 11am 10th at St. Marys Catholic Church in Albany. A brunch and celebration of her life will follow after the mass.
