Obituary: Jennie L. Lowe, 86, of Kent, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord , 4, 2016 at her home Kent. Jennie who was affectionately known as Sister, was the eldest of five children born to Richard and Essie M. (Cotton) Edwards on 4, 1930 in Macon, MS. She was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School and Hammel Business School in Akron. She began working at Davey Jr. High School as secretary treasurer, a position she held for many years. She was a member of the NAACP and was a founding member of the Womans Social Club of Kent. She served faithfully as pianist, organist and choir director of Spelman Chapel AME Church for over 60 years. She is survived by her son, Ricky (Shannon) Lowe of Kent; sisters-in-law, Shirley Edwards and Gloria Blash of Akron and Muriel Edwards of Kent; brother, Richard (Alice) Edwards Jr. of Shaker Hts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilliard Dave Lowe; son, Edward D. Lowe; parents, Richard and Essie Edwards; brothers, James M. Edwards, Holley Edwards, and Joseph L. Edwards. Calling hours will be held 10-11AM , 10th, 2016 at Spelman Chapel AME Church, 910 Walnut Street, Kent, where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM with Pastor L. A. Gatewood officiating. Obituary: James Robert Lowe, age 78 of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on , 3, 2016 at the Holzer Medical – Jackson ER. He was born in Williamson, West Virginia on 24, 1937, to the late James Bailey and Victoria (McGuire) Lowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the couple that raised him, George and Minnie Hensley, and his first wife, Geneva (Stepp) Lowe. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Browning) Lowe; a son, James Edward Lowe; daughters: Barbara Sue Parsons, Betty Ann Fisher, Melinda Gale Logan and Alice Fay Walker; two brothers: Richard Lowe and Gene Aders; a half-brother, Buddy Pinson and a half-sister, Gladys Pinson. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. James was a truck driver who primarily hauled coal out of Kentucky. services will be held on , 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Community Church, 5104 State Route 93, Oak Hill, Ohio with Rev. She was born 13, 1946, in Marytown, West Virginia, to parents William Leonard and Minnie Louise (White) Brooks. Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband of 37 ½ years John C. Lowe, her two sons: Her Baby Johnny L. (Cindy Lewis) Lowe of Ravenna and Robert C. Anderson of Akron, a daughter Tina Gibson of Ravenna, step-daughter Kris Lowe (Dave) Senters of Kentucky. As well as her three sisters Brenda S. Cripple of Akron, Barbara A. (Stan) Hillis of Ravenna, and Pamela K. Johrendt of Akron, along with her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Waiting to greet her in Heaven are her parents, a sister Patricia M. (Brooks, Ritchey) Blankenship, a brother-in-law Samuel D. Cripple Sr., and her nephew Samuel D. Cripple Jr. Helen was a waitress for several area establishments, including East Park in Ravenna and Bobs Big Boy in Streetsboro. She also worked at Twin Star Lanes for several years. Helen loved spending time taking care of anyone who needed her help. She loved flowers, especially her roses. Helen collected Angels, and now she is one. Friends will be received , 8, 2016, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski , 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Her nephew, Pastor Jeff Aten, will officiate the funeral service on at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Charlestown .
