He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Evie Loftin; son, Robert E. “Bob” Loftin; great-grandson, Cameron Bush; granddaughter, Tobi Pierce; grandson, Tony Pierce. Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 76 years, Ina Mae Loftin; daughters, Linda (Mike) Dorough, Charlotte (Tommy) Pierce; daughter-in-law, Norma Loftin; son Dan (Kathy) Loftin; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: William "Bill" Frederick Loewen, Jr. - Born 15, 1943, in Mobile, passed away , 17, 2011, at his home. Mr. Loewen retired in 1995 as a District Chief for the Mobile Fire and Rescue Department after 31 years of service. His dedication to the city of Mobile and his fellow firefighters was admirable. He was a member of the Armed Services in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather, who was always there for his family. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons, brothers and dad. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William F. Loewen, Sr. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Bonnie Ellis Loewen; his mother, Alice "Detta" Loewen; two sons, Billy (Angel) Loewen, III, Shane (Jamie) Loewen; granddaughters, Ashton and Alexis; grandsons, Christopher and Levi; siblings, Nona (Gene) McGowan, Michael (Karen) Loewen, Christopher (Brenda) Loewen, Timothy (JoAnn) Loewen, Robin (Dale) Watson, Deborah (James) Carpenter, and Rusty (Laura) Loewen; sister-in-law, Rebecca Walters; special friend, Vernon Hall; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. services will be held from the chapel of Radney on , 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be , 20, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Obituary: Betty Wolf Loeb daughter of Martha C. Kaufmann Wolf and Irwin D. Wolf was born in Pittsburgh Pa. May 27,1925. She moved to Birmingham in 1947, marrying Robert Hirsch Loeb. Betty was President of National Council of Jewish Woman two times and also President of Temple Emanuel Sisterhood, Founding Vice-President of the Symphony, Vice President of Volunteer Bureau, Founder of the Gift Shop at UAB Hospital and on the Board of Children's Hospital for 18 years as well as a reader at WBHM for 28 years. She is survived by her four children Dr. Peter(Cecilia) Loeb of Tallahassee, Dr. Thomas(Patricia) Loeb of New York, Robert(Margery) Loeb of Texas, Lauren(Syd) Lerner of Memphis as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Special thanks to her caregivers Elaine, Stu, William, Sulayman, Mike, Deanna, Lessie, Susan and Kenny. The memorial service will be at Temple Emanuel 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.
