Obituary: Mrs. Layton was born 28, 1921 in Dale Alabama, to Annie and Albert Snell, the youngest of five daughters. Mrs. Layton passed away unexpectedly May 16, 2016 in Mt. Olive, Alabama at the age of 95. Mrs. Layton is survived by her daughter, Faye Layton, grandsons Rick Layton and wife Leslie Layton, Tim Layton, granddaughter Cindy Sorrow and husband Lu Sorrow, great-grandson Ryan Layton, great-grandaughters, Christen Sorrow, Hope Layton, and Christy Layton; two step-great granddaughters Kim Sorrow and Tyler Sorrow, One great-great granddaughter Lenah Layton (Tanya Layton), two sisters-in-law Carrie Ben Layton and Dorothy Layton. And many nieces and nephews. Special friends Dot Smoothers, Janey Madding, Rick, Regina, Alexis, and Collin Pennington. Mrs. Layton was comforted in her later years by Evelyn, Kay, Elizabeth and Deborah. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Layton, her son, Richard Layton. Her parents Annie and Albert Snell. Her sisters Ethel Redmon, Mavis Matthews, Dorothy Peebles, and Rose Trawick. Mrs. Layton was trained at Baptist Princeton by Ida V. Moffett as a nurse in Birmingham, Alabama, and served her country in World War II. Mrs. Layton worked in the emergency room at Charlotte Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a dedicated individual who loved her church and community and often volunteered at Carraway Hospital and Meals on Wheels. A celebration of Mrs. Laytons life will be May 19th, 2016 at Gracepoint at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Hills . Obituary: Martha Kathryn Layne, age 86 of wood, AL went to be with her Lord on , 3, 2015. She was a lifetime member of Southside Baptist Church where she was active with the Church Clothes Closet, the Food Bank, and Sunbeam Meals on Wheels. Martha and her husband Bill owned and operated Jelly's Steak House in wood for over 27 years. Martha served as a foster parent and worked tirelessly as a volunteer with Genetiva Hospice. She volunteered for many other civic organizations as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Layne; three sons, Gary Layne (Theresa), Charles Layne, and an infant son; a daughter, Saundra Morgan; four brothers, William Thomas, Charles Thomas, Bobby Thomas, and Lamar Thomas; and a sister, Elizabeth Layton. She is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Melisa Lisa Layne; grandchildren, William L. Morgan Fella and Christopher Layne; and a great grandchild, Micah Morgan; many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. services will be held on , 10, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church at 12:00 Noon with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Obituary: Bridget Elane Laymon, a long-time resident of Montgomery, AL, went to be with her Savior , 7, 2015 at the age of 75. Born in Georgia in 1939 to Bridger and Doris Jordan, Bridget married Jerry Laymon on her birthday, 3, in 1958. Bridget followed her Air Force husband to Alaska, California, and, finally, settled in Montgomery in 1975. Bridget spent summers at Lake Martin with her family and enjoyed water skiing, boating, and bird-watching. Active in her parish, she delivered communion to shut-ins and participated in the church prayer-line. She was an avid square dancer with the Rebs and Debs and with Dixie Plus. She played golf, bowled in a league, and enjoyed the game of Dominos with her friends. rearing her five children, Bridget trained with the Red Cross and became a phlebotomist and worked in the pheresis unit. In her later years she enjoyed reading and spending time with her five children and their families. She is survived by her sister, Deloris Beaton (Charlie) of St. ine, FL; four sons, Leonard, Michael (Wanda), Paul (Jodi) and Ronald (Stephanie); one daughter, Melonie; two grand-daughters, Blair and Lindsey; one great-granddaughter, Hannah; a niece: three nephews; a grand-niece; three grand-nephews and many long-time friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald and her brother, Leonard Jordan. Services will be held , 12 at 1:00 pm at St. Bede Catholic Church, with Father Pat officiating.
