Obituary: Wayne Wilson Lynn, age 67, of Maiden passed away , 21, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born 21, 1946, in Lincoln , he was the son of the late George David Lynn and Georgia Bell Long Lynn. He was a member of Open Word Holiness Church in Newton and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served 12 years and fought in the Vietnam War. Wayne was employed by U.S. Express as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, David Lynn. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joyce Lee Lynn of the home; son, Rick Lynn and wife, Jill of Lincolnton, NC; daughters, Darlene Lynn Pell and husband, Austen of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Michelle Lynn Boyer and husband, Eric of San Antonio, TX, Stephanie Valentine and husband, David of Columbia, SC; stepson, David Blanton and wife, Marianne of Hickory, NC; stepdaughter, Connie Sloan and husband, James of Lattimore, NC; brother, Eddie Lynn and wife, Jane of Lincolnton NC, and sister-in-law, Shirley Lynn of Pumpkin Ctr., NC. Wayne is also survived by eight grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held , 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., at Drum Chapel in Conover with Rev. Matthew Sparks, Rev. Darren Greeson and Rev. Bobby Rippy officiating. Military honors by Newton American Legion Post 16 will be presented following the service. Obituary: Walter Wiley Sam Lynn, of Raleigh, passed away surrounded by family at his home, , 28, 2017. He was born at Rex hospital in Raleigh to the late Walter (Jack) Lynn Jr. and Aline Alma (Poole) Lynn. Sam attended Cary High School before joining the United States Army, in which he spent 20 years serving before retiring. San worked for various companies as a driver including Thurston Motor Lines, Brown Transport, RDU, and Barnes US Mail. Sam was a member of the US Armys 805th Military Police 95B 63B He was a longtime member of Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Shady Grove Senior Citizens School. Sam is survived by brothers; Henry Jim Lynn of Raleigh, Billy (Annette) Lynn of South Dakota, Robert Lynn of Tampa, FL, sisters; Kay (Richard) Buchanan of Durham and Jo (Dennis) Dillard of Gastonia, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Sam also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Trickie and Blackett. Obituary: Thomas Jackson Lynn always made sure his family was taken care of. Some might call stockpiling enough soap to survive the apocalypse excessive, Tom called it economically prudent. He was a proud husband, father, and Grandad, but too humble to ever accept credit for the achievements made in his 77 years. Born in Brookford, NC on Feb. 21, 1937 to Bertie Pitts Lynn and Obie Daniel Lynn, Tom and his late older brother, Lewis Rodney Lynn, later moved to Baltimore with their mom. serving in the US Army, Tom returned home to North Carolina and met Betty Aileen Hood Lynn. He said thats when his life began. married in 1974. He was funny and self-deprecating. He drove a truck for a living and loved working in the yard with his Betty. Tom dabbled in photography and videography. Sometimes a little TOO much, prompting family to flee as he approached with a camera. Once, while trying to capture a shot of his two daughters, he backed up too far and fell into a pool. Tom and Betty lived in Mint Hill for 37 years, raising Christy and Jenny. Betty died of cancer in 2013 and 363 days later Tom was diagnosed with incurable cancer. Months of grueling treatment took its toll and he chose to spend his final days in Oakboro, NC on the farm owned by his daughter, Jenny Hatley, and her husband, Shawn, and his two grandsons, Blake and Eli. And while his daughters accepted his decision to end treatment, theyll always want just one more day with Dad. He passed away Jan. 31, 2015 with Jenny, Shawn, and Christy and her husband, Pete Kaliner, by his side. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.CaringBridge.com and Hospice of Stanly .
