Obituary: Our Melissa Rae Lyle, 37, of Morganton, passed over the rainbow into paradise 3rd, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones ,after a courageous 22 years battle with Crohns Disease. Melissa was born in Burke on 16, 1978. She was the only child of Marsha Poteat Lyle and Ray Anthony Lyle of Morganton. She was loved by many and entertained all with her quick wit and humor. Friends and family called her Lisser, Moo, and Mayo and she gave unconditional love to everyone, especially her beloved fur baby Patti. She was a 1996 graduate of Freedom High School and attended Appalachian State University. Melissa enjoyed playing flute in the Freedom High ing Band and was a member of the Morganton Gymnastics Team for seven years. She was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Weeta Searcy Poteat and Clarence Julius Poteat of Glen Alpine and her paternal grandfather, Everett Lyle Jr. of Morganton. Surviving in addition to her parents are her maternal grandmother, Faye Pearson Lyle of Morganton, her aunts, Lucretia Poteat Landau (Robert) of Burbank, CA, Shirley Poteat McClellan (Michael) of Morganton, Julia Poteat Harmon of Valdese, and uncle Brent Lyle (Angie) of Morganton. Also surviving are her cousins, Mary Lyle, Jennifer McClellan, Leslie McClellan Lane (Scott), Miranda and Emily Harmon, Sasha Landau, Melissas boyfriend Shane Poovey and her stepfather Brian Wheeler and his children, Brianna and Isaac. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. 9, 2016 in the Chapel of Heritage Service and Crematory, Valdese. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. 8, 2016 at Heritage Service, Valdese, NC. We would like to thank and acknowledge with great appreciation her care team members at CMC Main in Charlotte and Burke Hospice and Palliative , Valdese. Most importantly, we would like to thank all of her family and friends who offered their endless love and support during her transition over the finish line. Obituary: Mary L. Lyle, 92, died 7, 2017 in Charlotte, NC from dementia. She was born in Akron, OH on 31, 1925 to Roy and Mary Esther Holderbaum. Mary was a homemaker and dedicated volunteer at Akron General Medical accumulating over 14,000 volunteer hours. She was a member of Living Saviour Luther Church of Charlotte, NC and a former member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church in Akron. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; brother, Bruce Holderbaum and granddaughter, Kristen Lyle. She is survived by sons Charles E. and Linda Lyle of Charlotte, NC and L. Bruce Lyle and Linda Kay Lyle of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren: Ashley (Brian) Welborn, Christopher Lyle, Lisa (Rich) Fahey, Jeff (Jennifer) Lyle, and Tina (Mitch) Mullican; eight great-grandchildren: Haley, Katelyn, Duane, Hallie, Luke, Isaac, Jordan and Jacob, and three great-great-grandchildren: Chase, Ella, and Hope. A special thank you to caregivers Jan Emmich, and Lynne Waller who allowed us to keep Mom at home and Hospice and Palliative of Charlotte Region for their tremendous assistance and care. A service will be held at 2:00pm on , 15, 2017 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226 with Pastor Angela Powell officiating. Obituary: Waynesville, Lena Nell Travis Lyle, age 88, of 89 Walker Road, passed away on , 18, 2015 at The stead. Lena was born in Greenville, South Carolina and was a former resident of Asheville and longtime resident of Waynesville. Daughter of the late Albert Hugh and Nelle Elizabeth Cook Travis, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack Lyle, her two brothers, Hugh and Bill, and her sister Audrey. Lena was a 1944 graduate of Lee Edwards High School in Asheville. She was a career bank teller, working at several Asheville area banks, before settling down at Haywood Savings and Loan. She retired from Haywood Savings in 1992. She was a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Waynesville and former member of the West Asheville Presbyterian Church, where she and Jack were youth leaders in the early 1960s. Lena is survived by her children Jack B. Lyle of Rockledge Florida, Jeff F. Lyle and his wife Sandy, and James E. Lyle and his wife, Karin, all of Waynesville; her grandchildren, Virginia Ann Lyle, Josh Lyle and his wife, Nacole, John Lyle and his wife, Taylor, and Bryan Lyle; and also by her great-grandchild, John Walker Lyle. A funeral service and celebration of Lenas life will be held at 4:30 p.m. on , 21, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells with Reverend Larry Jones officiating. Obituary: Lawrence Larry F. Lyle Larry Lyle, 90, (Formerly of Akron, OH) of Charlotte, NC passed away 7, 2015. He was born in Akron, Ohio on 1, 1924 to Harry and Leah Lyle. A veteran of WWII and Korea, he served with General Patton in the Third Army Field Artillery 773rd Battalion at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for B.F.Goodrich for 41½ years retiring as Manager of Identification Services.
