Obituary: Mrs. Jewel Elizabeth Stirewalt Lowder, 96 of China Grove passed away on , 29, 2017 at Universal Services in Concord. Born on 4, 1920 in Horry South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Jessie Coone Stirewalt. Educated in the Horry schools, she was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in China Grove, where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Lowder enjoyed growing flowers and cooking. She retired after many years of service from Cannon Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of over 50 years, Robert Lee Lowder. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Lowder (Joan) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Janet Brawley (Harry) of China Grove, sister Louise Nichelson (Robert) and grandchildren Heather Burnette, Karla Taylor and Chaz Lowder. Visitation will be on from 7:00 till 9:00 at Linn Honeycutt in China Grove with funeral on at 2:00 at First Baptist Church in China Grove with Rev. Steve Wilson, minister. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
