Obituary: Billy Joe Bill Lineberry, 74, of Liberty passed away on , May 23, 2010 at The Hospice at High Point. A memorial service will be held on , May 26, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at The Loflin Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Bill is the son of the late Rufus and Colleen Holder Lineberry and was also preceded in death by his wife, Leta McAdams Lineberry; one son, Stephen L. McAdams and his brother, George A. Lineberry. Surviving is his daughter, Patti Weber and husband, Richard of High Point; one son, Michael K. McAdams and wife, Paulette of Asheboro; two grandchildren, Kevin M. Weber of Greensboro and Corey McAdams of Liberty; one sister, Sue Fogleman and husband, Kenneth of Liberty; one niece, Renee Fogleman and one nephew, David Fogleman. Obituary: Albert S. Lineberry, 26 Sturbridge Lane, died , 11, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. A family service of interment will follow the church service. He is survived by his wife Helen Howerton Lineberry; daughters Mrs. Carole Moore and husband Sam, Burlington, NC, Mrs. Patricia (Pal) Ingold and husband Mike; sons Albert S. Lineberry II (Jr.) and wife Ginni, Thomas H. Lineberry, and W. Scott Lineberry and wife Susan all of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Wm. Edward Clarke, III, Mr. Richard (Beau) Johnson, III and his wife Denise, Mrs. Helen L. Houser her husband E.E. Trey, III, Will and Joey Milks, Lauren and Michael Ingold, Mrs. Lee L. Saunders and her husband Stuart; Taylor, Patrick, Bryan, and Christopher Lineberry and great grandchildren Hannah and Abigail Houser; his sister, Mrs. Nisa McDowell, Memphis, Tenn.; and brother and Fred Lineberry, Downers Grove, Illinois. Among the many associations and organizations where Mr. Lineberry served, First Baptist Greensboro was closest to his heart. A man of devoted Christian faith, Al was an active member and leader at First Baptist for 54 years. In those years, he taught a mens Bible study class, worked on several committees, chaired the finance committee and the diaconate. He was deeply involved in leading the churchs stewardship efforts as well as mentoring young leaders. He was truly a pillar of the church. He was educated at the Cumberland University Army Air Corps School (served as a pilot, Eighth Air Corps, World War II), a graduate of the Gupton-Jones of Mortuary Law and Science, The National Foundation School of Management, and participated in various seminars on funeral service in the USA and Britain. He was an Associate Member of the Thanatology Department of Columbia University and was certified by the Academy of Professional Service Practice and a former member of the Board of Associates at the Smith Richardson for Creative Leadership. Albert S. Lineberry, Sr. bought the controlling shares of the Hanes , Inc. in , 1955 which became Hanes-Lineberry s. Although the business beginnings in Greensboro were quite modest, under his leadership and integrity the firm expanded and has become one of the more respected firms in the industry. His business, religious, civic, cultural, political, sports, social and philanthropic endeavors have been noted by numerous local, state, national, and international awards and presentations. He received an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Greensboro , has been a Legislator in the NC House of Representatives, president or chairman of numerous local, state and national committees including that of the Baptist for Scouting, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, and The National Selected Morticians (an international association of selected funeral services). He has spoken before the US Senate and the US House of Representatives on issues concerning funeral service, and was a recipient of the Boy Scouts of America Silver Buffalo Award. He is a member and past president of the Greensboro Kiwanis Club, a 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite Mason, Corinthian Lodge No. 542 AMFM, Eastern Star, Masonic Scottish Rite, KCCH 33rd Degree Conferred in 1983, P. P. Turner Lodge No. 746, The White Shrine, and a member of the Shrine Oasis Temple. He also is a member of the Buena Vista Lodge 21, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27401, or the charity of choice. The family will visit with friends 5:30-7:00 PM in the First Baptist Church sanctuary. |
