Obituary: Roberta Wheeler Lindahl, 89, of Morganton, NC passed peacefully from this earth 5th, with her younger sons around her sharing family stories and singing hymns. Mary Roberta was born 8, 1927 in Carlinville, IL to Hester and Ralph Wheeler. The youngest of a musical family, she graduated from Southern Illinois University in piano performance and physical education, taught elementary school, aquatics and swimming for many years, was a high school music teacher and choral director, and private piano teacher to students of all levels. Roberta was an accomplished pianist, a devoted mom, an avid baker, bird-watcher, gardener (including heirloom daylilies her brother, Dr. Marshall Wheeler, hybridized), family photo album-keeper, personalized denim pillow-maker, and theatre and concert-goer. While a young elementary teacher visiting friends in Albuquerque, she met Don Lindahl of Gallup, NM on a blind date. were married 55 years and will be lovingly remembered by friends and family: her sister Lois Sanders of Perryville, MO; children Andrew & Stacey Lindahl of Magnolia, MS, Mary Lindahl McMahon of Hagerstown, MD, Donald Jr. Lindy Lindahl & Dr. Patricia Smart of Greenville, SC, Eric & Robin Allison Lindahl of Lawrence, MA; grandchildren Patrick, Kathleen, Rory and Clare McMahon of Maryland; her nieces, nephews and cousins. Obituary: In Memoriam 29, 2015 Robert J. Lind, 62, died unexpectedly in his sleep on 28th at his home in Raleigh, NC. He leaves his wife of 42 years Karen (Kozelek) Lind; his daughter Christina (Lind) Overby, her husband Chris Overby, and their two daughters Anna Kate and Allison; his daughter Erica (Lind) Winter and her husband Brian Winter; and his son Nick Lind. He is also survived by a large extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Bob was born in Stevens Point, WI on 9th, 1953, the youngest of five children. He is preceded in death by his parents Gustave Lind and Mary (Sorenson) Lind. He is survived by his siblings Barbara (Lind) Eskritt, Ron Lind, Dennis Lind, and Jerry Lind. Bob attended PJ Jacobs high school in Stevens Point where he met his future wife, Karen, during their senior year, 1971. were married on 16th, 1973 at Saint Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Bob enjoyed a long and successful career in broadcasting sales and management followed by an equally rewarding career in non-profit fundraising. Starting in radio ad sales for his uncle at family-owned WSAU in Wausau, WI, Bob continued on to become a sales leader at WTMJ in Milwaukee. Bob moved into management with WKSS in Hartford, CT, followed by stints in Pittsburgh,PA, New York, NY, Milwaukee, WI, Baltimore, MD, and Raleigh, NC. In Baltimore and Raleigh, Bob served as a Vice President of Capitol Broadcasting for over a decade, overseeing radio properties in Orlando, Richmond, Baltimore and Raleigh, as well as managing the Durham Bulls Baseball Club, professional soccer team the Raleigh Flyers, Money Mailer, and other business interests of the company. During his time with CBC, Bob started Radiothons at both WWMX-FM in Baltimore and WRAL-FM in Raleigh. At the time he left CBC, these Radiothons had raised over three million dollars for Johns Hopkins Childrens and Duke Childrens Hospital. Following his work with CBC, Bob went to work directly for Childrens Miracle Network where he was President and Founder of the Radiothon division. In his 10 years with CMN he and his team launched hundreds of Radiothons across the US, Canada and around the world. These Radiothons continue to raise millions of dollars for sick kids across the world each year. Over the past 10+ years, Bob and Karen have lived throughout the country (Sugar Camp, WI; West Palm Beach, FL; Los Angeles, CA; and Raleigh, NC) while Bob worked independently as a consultant to non-profits that raise money for childrens hospitals, ALS research, animal cruelty prevention and many other worthy causes. However, it was their love of family that prompted them to settle permanently in Raleigh to spend as much time as possible with their children and grandchildren. Bob was generous with everyone he knew and showered his family with love and attention. Bob and Karen traveled often, taking many trips to Europe including a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. He was proud of his kids and encouraged them to strive for happiness and success in every endeavor. Known as Papa to his two adoring granddaughters, he delivered doughnuts to them every weekend and was known for leaving sweet treats and love notes for them throughout the week. Bob will always be remembered for the tremendous impact he had on his family, friends, and community. details are being handled by Brown-Wynne in Raleigh.
