Obituary: Catherine Drace Lewis Born 28, 1952, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Michael and Virginia Mack Drace, Catherine Drace Lewis made her home in many parts of the country, including Milford, Connecticut, New York City and Cape Coral, Florida. She would come to call Charlotte home in 1996. Catherine attended Milford High School and Sacred Heart . Following college, she embarked on a career as an office manager with the financial consulting firm Smith Barney. In later years she would give birth to the center of her universe, her daughter Gillian Drace. For the last 26 years she spent her life as a homemaker, pursuing interests in gardening and cooking and exploring her ever growing love for dogs and cats. Her quick wit and interest in politics often put her front and center in conversations and debates with friends and family. While sometimes regarded as outspoken, she remained consistently comedic and good-natured and was easily capable of finding friends with those she disagreed, just as quickly as individuals with which she shared similar world views. Indeed, she had a gift for reaching across the aisle. In addition to her interests in politics and comic banter, she enjoyed traveling and had visited such destinations as Thailand, Morocco and the Caribbean Island of St Maarten. She also found deep comfort and strength in her devotion to non-denominational Christianity. an extended and brave battle against cancer (while steadfastly maintaining her ever-present sense of humor and gratitude to all of her doctors, nurses and caregivers) Catherine Lewis passed away on 11, surrounded by her devoted and loving family and friends. She was preceded in her passing by parents Michael and Virginia, and is survived by husband Keith Lewis, daughter Gillian Drace, Sister Palma McLellan and husband Mike, stepdaughter Melissa Lewis Liles and husband Christopher Liles, stepdaughter Crystal Lewis Biggers and husband Jesse Biggers and their son Henry In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held , 15, at 3 p.m. at Grace Covenant Church, located at 1800 South Boulevard. Obituary: Carolyn Ann Lewis, age 71 of Red Oak, NC, passed away on 12, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Gray Lewis, parents Luther and Nettie Manning, and brother Melton Manning. She is survived by her sister Shirley Batchelor, sister-in-law Geraldine Manning, two sons Ron Lewis (Jenny) and Brad Lewis (Stephanie), and two grandchildren Maggie Jo and Sammy Lewis. Additionally she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn worked out of the home raising her children and assisting her husband run a private electrical contracting business. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She enjoyed quiet quality time spent with family and friends over a cup of coffee while playing various card and board games. A visitation will take place from noon to 2pm on 15, 2015 with funeral services directly following at 2pm. Family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Brad and Stephanie Lewis. |

Obituary: GASTONIA - Carol Jean Bush Lewis, 64, of Montclair Ave., passed away unexpectedly on 21, 2011, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Catawba , she was the daughter of Robert Edward Bush Sr. and Elizabeth Jeanette Saunders Bush. Carol graduated from Pfeiffer University with a degree in Christian Education. She served as the Director of Christian Education at Myers Memorial United Methodist in Gastonia, Director of Publications & Information at Gaston Memorial Hospital and most recently as the Public Information Offi-cer/SEQL Outreach Coordinator at Centralina Council of Governments. An avid volunteer, she dedicated her life to serving the community. Her volunteer work included her church, First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, Gastonia Junior Womans Club, Womans Club of Gastonia, General Federation of Womens Clubs of North Carolina, Gastonia Clean City, North Carolina Keep America Beautiful, United Arts Council of Gaston , Schiele Museum of Natural History and Gastonia All America City Teams in 1997 & 2000. She is survived by her husband, Michael Edwin Lewis of the home; daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Lewis of Brooklyn, New York; son, Thomas Edward Lewis of Boone; brother, Robert Edward Bush Jr. of Charlotte; sister, Elizabeth Bush Oakley and husband, Richard of Asheville; nephews, Matthew Oak-ley, Parker Oakley and William Oakley, all of Asheville. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia with the Rev. George Freeman officiating. Inurnment will be private.
