Obituary: Mrs. Sara Marie Wilson Lane, age 91, of Marion, NC passed away on , 10, 2015 at her home. She was born on 22, 1923 in Yancey to the late Bryan and Dora Effler Wilson. She worked as a spinner in the textile industry for many years. She was a member of the Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church. Sara enjoyed cooking and canning. She liked working outside, shopping and will be remembered for loving everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Bonnie Loftis, Frances Ballew, Martha Wilson, Pearl Pirrwitz, Minnie Whisnant and Dovie Laughridge. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Reverend James Logan Lane of Marion; two brothers, Jack Wilson, wife Mildred, and Jerry Wilson; four sisters, Edith Lloyd, Evelyn Alberts, Wilma Szabo and Elizabeth Nichols; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family will receive friends on , 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kirksey in Marion, NC. A Service will follow the visitation on at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Kirksey with Rev. Jerry McClain and Reverend Tommy Hensley officiating. Interment will follow the service in the McDowell Memorial Park. Flowers will be appreciated, but memorials can be made to Hospice of McDowell . Obituary: Waynesville, Samuel Houston Lane, III, age 76, passed away on , 8, 2016 surrounded by his family at Memorial Campus. A native of Haywood , he was the son of Louise Lane of Hazelwood and the late Samuel Houston Lane, Jr. He attended Western Carolina University, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business. Sam was a talented salesman and had a charismatic personality. He was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Sam Lane (Theresa) of Santa Paula, California two daughters, Kym Lane of Asheville, North Carolina and Stephanie Little (Mark) of Cary, North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Sharp (David) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Linda Stack of Waynesville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 12, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells with Reverend Patrick Womack officiating. Obituary: High Point, NC Mrs. Ruby Ann “Polly” Lane, 84, passed away at Westchester Manor. Polly was born in High Point, 12, 1930, a daughter of the late Henry Ray and Maude Parker Helmstetler. She worked in retail sales for many years and retired from the Oak Hollow Golf Course Grill. Polly was preceded in death by her husbands, Byron Hubert Walker and Dallas Ray Lane; a son, Ronald Lee Walker, a step-son, David Lane and 11 siblings and a special friend, Donald Hanes. Surviving are her sister, Barbara Reid and husband Jack; three step-daughters, Gloria Verstegen, Gwendolyn Jacobson and Gail Schwalen; four step-sons, Darryll, Danny, Donavan and Richard Lane; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Polly’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. in the Davis s and Cremations Chapel by Rev. Bobby Loving. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park on .
