Obituary: Charles B. Charlie Lobdell Of Jackson, passed away 4, 2017 age 93. Survived by one daughter, Trudy L. (Terry) Bird, one son, Chuck W. (Cindy) Lobdell, one grandson, Gerry C. (Lynsay) Lobdell, one granddaughter, Tiffany L. (Dustin) Pollard, great grandchildren, Jaxon C. Lobdell, Madeline and Dylan Pollard, one sister, Doris Cole and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Esther, two grandchildren, Steve S. Lobdell and Tammy Lynn Bird, one brother, David Lobdell, his parents, Harold and Evelyn Lobdell, step mother, Lane Lobdell. Charlie enjoyed bowling, golfing (especially his hole in one), hunting, fishing, euchre and visiting the Virginia Coney Island. He owned and operated Lobdells Party Store and worked for Allied Chucker Engineering for 50 years. He served in the Army during WWII. Charlie will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Obituary: Barbara Jean Lobdell, aged 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on , 23, 2015. Barbara was born 26, 1931 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Claude and Ila Southard. She is preceded in death by her husband of many years, Charles, her son Charles, her infant son Wayne, sister Joyce Wright, her brother Wayne Southard, and her stepfather Jospeh Wiebenga. Barbara is survived by her daughter Tina (Dewey) Jewell, Craig (Teresa) Lobdell, Kurt Lobdell, Ron Lobdell, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Shirley Gray, Corlene Southard and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted employee of Grand Rapids Metal Craft for many years before working at D&W freshmarket. Barbara was an avid lover of animals, especially her dog Harley, and watching her birds. Obituary: LOBBAN, Kathryn Faner, of Flint, age 100, passed away 1, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Service will be held 2:00 p.m. , 6, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw Street, Flint, with Dr. John L. Musgrave officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services. Burial at Davison . Mrs. Lobban was born 24, 1909 in Montrose, Michigan the daughter of John and Flora Faner. She was raised in Goodrich where her father owned the pharmacy. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Public School Music in 1930, and later earned a MA in School Administration from the University of Michigan. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon and Delta Kappa Gamma, music and educational honoraries, respectively, and Chi Omega Sorority. Her career in the Flint Public Schools began at Garfield Elementary when it first opened in 1930. There she taught music, speech and drama. From 1935-1939 she taught childrens literature at Walker Elementary School. From 1939-1940 she was Dean of Girls and assistant principal at Zimmerman Junior High and from 1940-1942 Principal of Coolidge Elementary. In 1942 she became Principal of Doyle Elementary and Stevenson Elementary and then from 1945-1960 she was Principal at Stevenson. She loved her students and staff, and many of them kept in touch with her through the years, and helped her to celebrate her 100th birthday in of 2009. In 1945 she married Andrew Lobban, DDS at First Presbyterian Church. both retired in 1960 and enjoyed travelling including special trips to Tokyo, Africa, Venice and Rome before his death in 1980. Her sister Jane Faner Sweers and husband Louis also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lobban loved Flint and was one of its strongest boosters. Always positive and able to see the good in others, she went out of her way to nurture and encourage them, and in so doing, helped them to realize their dreams. The communitys children benefited from her support of Flint School of Performing Arts. She was a very active member of the St. Cecilia Society of Flint Institute of Music, First Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. Chapter AY. In lieu of flowers, per Kathryns wishes, memorial gifts are encouraged to Flint Institute of Music School of Performing Arts or the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
