Obituary: W. Davis Dave Lackey, Jr., 46, passed away on 15, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical in Boston, MA. Dave was born on 26, 1964 in New Rochelle, NY, and at age 13, moved to Cumberland Foreside, ME. He was educated at the Rippowam Cisqua School (Bedford, NY), Phillips Academy Andover, and Yale University. Daves passion for politics and communications began in Junior High School, when he first volunteered in the local Ford-Dole presidential campaign office. While at Andover, he furthered this involvement by serving as an intern for congressman David Emery of Maine. At Yale, Dave was elected managing editor of the Yale Daily News, a post that allowed him to hone his skill as a wordsmith and punster. college, he began his work for Governor John R. McKernan, Jr., first as ookie of the year on the campaign staff, and later as Speechwriter and Director of Communications for Governor McKernan. Daves skill as a writer next led him to be appointed Director of Communications and Maine Issues for Senator Olympia J. Snowe, with whom he worked for eight years. Dave was then recruited by Fidelity Investments in Boston, MA, where he served as Vice President of Public Policy for many years. Dave began work in 2011 as a deputy secretary of state to Charles Summers, Maine Secretary of State. Dave was a role model in so many ways to his family and friends. An avid learner and reader, Dave spent much of his free time with a book or newspaper at hand, and reveled in sharing tidbits of information. Dave also loved to travel, and visited many diverse areas of the world. He relished the challenge and adventure of planning travel, and of negotiating new cities, new cultures, and new culinary experiences. Dave was a fast walker. He always had somewhere to go. As a dear friend said, he had people to meet, places to go, and trouble to cause. Dave never felt that it was a burden, but rather a gift to himself, to be with family members and to learn from them. He knew his family and friends very well, was generous with his time, and had a great ability to find the perfect gift for those that he loved. His brother said that Dave was he perfect Best Man, not only at a wedding, but also in life. Daves friends and colleagues echoed these sentiments. A former co-worker said that Dave was a mentor, always willing to take the time to share knowledge and assist those with whom he worked, and most of all, Dave was simply a solid person. He had a kind soul and was attentive and respectful to all he came in contact with. He always took the extra step to help explain or help others no matter how small the request. I can honestly say that my life would not be what it is today without Dave. And I will miss him dearly. Dave was a loving and dedicated son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend. He is survived by his father, William D. Lackey, of Pittsboro, NC, and his wife Ann; his mother, Jean M. Hubbell, of Cumberland Foreside, ME, and her husband, William; his brother, Timothy C. Lackey, of Whitefield, ME, and his wife, Heidi; his sister, Amanda L. Cote, of North Yarmouth, ME, and her husband Ryan; his niece Eliza M. Cote, of North Yarmouth, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A memorial service in celebration of Daves life will be held at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 425 Congress Street, Portland, ME on , 19, 2011 at 11 AM. Obituary: Mr. Walter P. Waddy LaCivita age 90 years died in the Newton Wellesley Hospital , Newton, Massachusetts on , 1st, 2009. Born in his parents home in East Walpole on 11, 1918, to his parents Guiseppe and Carmela (Iannamorelli) LaCivita. He graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1939. He entered into the United States Army and served his country during World War II as a Staff Sargeant. He earned two Bronze Stars. He returned to East Walpole and was a life long resident of the town. Former member of the Walpole Rotary Club. He enjoyed traveling to Florida , especially Key West. His life at home centered around his family, his vegetable garden and his woodworking. Most recently he was involved with the Julia Ruth House in Westwood. Mr. LaCivita was a builder for all of his life. He would say he was just a carpenter, however , he was a developer, general contractor, builder. He was the owner and operator of Walter P. LaCivita Builder-Contactor. Beloved husband of the late Rose M. (Toti) LaCivita Loving father of Sandra L. Obituary: Patrick A. LaCivita, 50, died , 28, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School and also attended Massasoit Community . While in High School, he was an excellent athlete and was a 1000 point scorer for Stoughton High Schools Basketball Team. Son of the late Michael and Margaret M. (Hickey) LaCivita, he was a resident of Stoughton for many years before moving to Quincy 5 years ago. Mr. LaCivita worked as a Floor Coverer for several years. He was an avid sports fan of the Boston Sports teams. He is survived by his children; Jessica M. LaCivita and her fiancé Eddie Rodrigues, Gina M. LaCivita and her fiancé Brian Maltby and Anthony P. LaCivita and his wife Sandy all of Stoughton. He was the grandfather of Jack Maltby, Jameson LaCivita and Michael LaCivita. He was the companion of Debora Brancaccio of Quincy and is also survived by his former wife Patty LaCivita of Norfolk. Mr. LaCivita was the brother of the late Michael, Francis, Lynnette and Kevin LaCivita. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Obituary: Michael J. Mick LaCivita, 89, died , 28, 2012 at his home in Stoughton. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (Hickey) LaCivita. Born in Stoughton, he was a longtime resident of Stoughton. He attended Stoughton Schools and was a graduate of Boston Trade School. Mr. LaCivita was a Technician 5th Grade in the US Army, serving in the 3rd Armored Division and a Veteran of World War II. He worked for several area shops including Mitchell & Sons Plumbing, Savini Sand & Gravel, Phillips Plastics in Canton and was a partner in the LaCivita Combining in Easton. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW both in Stoughton. As a young man, Mr. LaCivita enjoyed boxing and was a sparring partner of Rocky Marciano. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, carpentry and writing poetry. Mr. LaCivita was the father of Kevin F. LaCivita of Brockton, Patrick A. LaCivita of Quincy and the late Michael P. LaCivita, Francis J. LaCivita and Lynnette K. Labriola. He was the brother of Christine M. Comeau of Taunton and the late Anthony, John and Michael LaCivita, Catherine Murphy, Mary Techiera, Adeline Costa and Ann Farrington. He was the father in law of Donna LaCivita, Patty LaCivita, Barbara LaCivita and Carol LaCivita.
