Obituary: Glenn Howard Lowitz, husband, father and member of the Arkansas Jewish community, passed away on 27 at the age of 62. Raised in Webb, Mississippi Glenn knew from an early age that he wanted to devote his life to the health of others. He attended college at Louisiana State University and received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ole Miss. He moved to Little Rock for his internship at the Child Study at UMAS. Before going into private practice, Glenn served as the Psychologist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Bridgeway Hospital. Once in Little Rock, he and his wife Ellen, became an integral part of the Jewish community and their synagogue, Congregation Agudath Achim. He served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Arkansas and was the long-time head of the Family Services Case Committee. Glenn was a two-time honoree of the Jewish Federation of Arkansas Tikkun Olam (Healing the World) Award for service. As a Child Psychologist, Glenn spent his career helping children. In addition to the patients he served in his private practice, Glenn served as a mediator for the Arkansas Judiciary and family courts. He served on the Board of Advisors for Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Parenting in Arkansas magazine. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Berthe Lowitz, and his sister Robbie Goldin. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Lowitz and children, David (Susan) Lowitz of Morton Grove, IL and Brett (Mike) Gotlib of Washington, D.C. A funeral service will be held , 29 at 10am at Congregation Agudath Achim (7901 W. 5th Street, Little Rock). Burial at Oakland Jewish to follow immediately. Obituary: Virginia R. Lowery, 83, of El Dorado, AR; died on , 22, 2015 at Lifetouch's John R Williamson Hospice House. Born on 5, 1931 in Rowell, AR; she was the daughter of Dan 'Dick' Thomas and Rachael Stark Thomas. Virginia was a homemaker and before retiring worked at Woolco. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Virginia loved painting and most of all caring for her family. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dick Thomas Jr. and Morris Thomas, and her husband Cecil W. Lowery. Survivors are her sons David Lowery of Maumelle, AR, Ray Lowery, and John (Terry) Lowery all of El Dorado; daughter Terri Lowery Hall of El Dorado; a sister Hallette Hanry of El Dorado; along with 8 grandchildren; Devin Lowery (Miriam), Justin Lowery (Brandi), Wesley Lowery (Melissa), J.D. Lowery (Jennifer), Rebecca Fife (Josh), Magan Hall, Katelyn Glass (Chris) and Hunter Hall; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
