Obituary: C. Sumner Libby, 96 Yarmouth - Charles Sumner Libby, 96 and a resident of Yarmouth, Maine for over seventy years, and more recently in residence at the Osher Inn Assisted Living (Cedars) in Portland, Maine, died of complications from pneumonia on , 27, 2015. C. Sumner Libby or Sumner as he was known by family and friends was predeceased in 1999 by his wife of 59 years, Beverly Beatrice Libby and by his great granddaughter Caroline Libby Kane. Sumner is survived by his daughters, Sharon Libby Sharp and her husband Ted of Cumberland Foreside, Sheila Libby Alexander and her husband, Bill of Cape Elizabeth; four grandchildren, Hannah Kane and her husband Jim and children Madison, Caitlin, and Patrick; Todd Sharp and his fiancée, Chelsie Vega, and son Jacob; Patrick Sharp and Rebecca Wetzel, and grandson Adrian Alexander. Sumner, one of ten children of Stephen W. and Marcia Megquier Libby, was born and raised in Pownal, Maine. He was predeceased siblings: Mildred M. Libby, Blanche A. Joy, Ernest S. Libby, Aileen I. Lewis, Carl A. Libby, Louville L. Libby and Kenneth J. Libby. He is survived by two of his sisters, Shirley Cass of Newhall, California and Dorothy Wallace Kilpatrick of Brunswick, Maine. He also considered Karola Brackenbury, now of Hastings, New Zealand, as a daughter. Karola was an AFS student from New Zealand who lived with the Libby family for a year while attending Yarmouth High School. Karola and her family have been part of the extended Libby family ever since. Sumner was a member of the Class of 1936 at North Yarmouth Academy (NYA). Raised on a farm during the Great Depression, Sumner would value family, hard work, and helping others. These attributes defined his life. He served on Yarmouth Rescue for many years, was a member of the Yarmouth Mens Club, an active Shriner for over fifty years, a 32nd degree Mason, and a dedicated and active member of the First Parish Church in Yarmouth. Even in his early nineties, Sumner would be working twelve hour days in service to his church during the annual Clam Festival. Sumner was a life member of the John Libby Family Association. Sumner retired from Central Maine Power in 1984 and enjoyed playing golf with his friends, working in his verdant vegetable garden, applying his considerable skills as a carpenter to build things for his family, friends, and his church, and enjoying time with his family, especially at the Libby Camp, the cottage that he and Beverly built on the shores of Sebago Lake. He and his family enjoyed trips to California to visit with relatives. In his later years Sumner enjoyed his visits with his friend Betty Pierce and her family in Arizona and hosting her during the summer months in Maine. There were no pretensions about Sumner rather; there was among us a genuine and loving man, one who will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege to know and to love him. Sumner Libby was a humble, unassuming man yet was an exemplar among men. Sumners good deeds were his statement about the way one should live ones life! Visiting hours will be from 5 - 7 pm , 6, 2014 at Lindquist , One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main Street, Yarmouth with a reception following in the church hall. Private burial will be in the spring in Elmwood , Pownal. Obituary: SKOWHEGAN \ Beverly Ann Frappier Libby, 40, passed away surrounded by her loving family on 24, 2014 in Skowhegan. She was born 12, 1974 the daughter of Robert Frappier and Patricia (Corson). Beverly was raised in Skowhegan and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1993. She married Kenneth Libby on 9, 2002 at Coburn Park. Beverly loved to be around her friends and family. She also enjoyed coloring, crocheting, sewing, cross stitching and fishing. Beverly is survived by her husband of 12 years, Kenneth Libby; mother, Patricia Brown; siblings, Donald A. Wing, III, Jeff S. Wing, Perlie C. Wing, Tabitha L. Wing, Linda M. Frappier, Jimmy L. Frapier, Kimberlie A. Frappier; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Robert R. Frappier, two aunts, Beverly A. Berry and Minnie B. Obituary: DURHAM - Arlene B. Libby of Royalsborough Road, Durham, passed away peacefully on , evening, just four days prior to her 88th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 17, 1927 in Hartford, Maine, the daughter of the late Albert V. Brown and Jennie R. (Gammon) Brown. She attended Hartford Grammar School and took great pride in the fact she was the only student to graduate in her class at Canton High School. She married James B. Libby on 29, 1946, and raised their family of twelve children, a source of her pride and joy. She babysat for neighboring families. As her children grew, she worked alongside her husband for twelve years in their family business, the Pine Plank Shop, beginning in 1970. She went to work at L. L. Bean in 1982, where she made many friends, until her retirement in 1992. Arlenes family was foremost and she loved to tell others about her 12 children, her 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She loved hosting large family gatherings at the holidays and throughout the year, and her home was open to all. She treated all of her childrens friends and the neighborhood kids as her own. Everyone who met and knew Arlene adored her. She was a true matriarch and nucleus of the family. She worked hard all her life providing for her family, and always put their needs before her own, with a spirit of love, kindness and generosity. She raised vegetable gardens, canned and put food up, prepared meals, and her kitchen was never closed. She was a member of the Durham Congregational Church. She loved to knit and crochet, and regularly made hats, mittens, scarves, and baby blankets for her family and expecting mothers. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens, feeding and watching her birds, word-find books, visiting with relatives, and long, meandering drives in the country, to the mountains and the ocean. She always looked forward to her annual trip with her daughters and granddaughters to her grandsons camp at Moosehead. In recent years, she enjoyed her favorite television shows - Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Andy Griffith, Steve Harvey, The Chew, Judge Judy, Big Bang Theory, Shark Tank, and Undercover Boss. She loved an ice-cold root beer and when asked how it tasted, said, It's damn good! She is survived by five daughters, Brenda Heath of Lisbon Falls, Sherry DeBiasio and her husband, Ernest, of Topsham, Patricia Dewitt and her husband, Roy, Pamela Lussier and her husband, Robert, Theresa Soucie and her husband, Mark, all of Durham; seven sons, Robert and his wife, Christina, Maynard and his wife, Joyce, Kenneth, Stephen, and Malcolm, all of Durham, Richard of Brunswick, and Brian of Westbrook; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank and his wife, Genesta, of Buckfield; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fish of Weld, Gloria Jones of Canton and Beulah Brown of Hartford; brothers-in-law, Lester Libby and his wife, Jeanie, of Rumford and Fred Bopple of Brunswick; and cousins and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 55 years, James; her sister, Dorothy Parsons; and her brothers, Stanley Brown, Sherman Brown and Marcian Brown.
