Obituary: Portland - Fredrick H Lax, 89, passed away 8, 2016 from health problems. Fredrick was born 9, 1927 in Portland, Maine; the son of Fredrick and Hazel Lax. He grew up in Portland and attended the Portland Schools. Fredrick served in the United States Navy. receiving a honorary discharge he started his dream job of making furniture at Thomas P Beals. the business burnt he moved on to Wolf Ford working in customer service for many years and retired from Holy Cross School where he enjoyed his work and all the people. Our dad was full of wonderful stories that he loved to share with us. He was a man of little words but when he spoke we would all listen. The joke was if dad is talking it must be important. He was a quiet, proud and hard working man with a great sense of humor. He loved to read books, magazines and the joke was he read the print off the daily paper. We were honored and very lucky to have him for a father. As a young man he loved to spend his time at the beach. The story is he chased our mom around the roller skating rink at the end of the Old Orchard Pier. Their love story started that day and lasted over 60 wonderful years. Fred loved to spend time with his wife and family. He always enjoyed all that Maine offered from strawberry, blueberry and apple picking to heading to the beaches. He loved doing all of this with all of his grandchildren. Ken's Place was his favorite place to eat. He loved watching and talking about wrestling. He (Micky) even did some boxing in his earlier days. Fred was a very active man that loved his sweet treats. He will be lovingly and sadly missed by all of his family. Fred is predeceased by his loving wife Blanche, and sisters Evelyn MacDuffie and Dorothy Shumate. Fred is survived by children, James Lax and wife Martha of Austin Tx., Robert Lax and wife Gloria of Falmouth, Fredrick Lax and Missy Wheaton of Millinocket and daughter Cynthia Russell and husband Richard of Gorham. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, Krista Page and husband Michael Page of Windham, Brittany Fetterman and husband Brian of Tx, Rick Anthony Casey Lax of Millinocket, Madison Lax D'Ortona and husband Tom of Tx, Allison Lax Rogers Genovese and husband Nicolas of Gardner, Brittany Wheaton of Fort Kent, Montgomery Lax of Tx, and Colby and Chloe Russell of Gorham. And a great- grandchild; Ethan Fetterman of Tx., Family and friends are invited to share remembrances at Jones, Rich & Hutchins , 199 Woodfords St. , 14 from 10:00-1:00 with a service being held at 1:00. We will then proceed to Forest City for interment. The U S Navy Honor Guard will be there for grave side prayers and send off. Obituary: Scarborough - Blanche Lax, 85, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. Blanche was born 25, 1926 in Newfoundland, Canada the eldest daughter of Albert and Iren Langmead. Blanche called her native Newfoundland The Rock. She was always telling wonderful stories about growing up with a large family, never a dull moment, lots of love and laughter. She attended school in Newfoundland then moved to Montreal to become a nanny. She spent her summers in Maine where she met her loving husband Fred. The story is he chased her around the roller skating rink at the end of the Old Orchard Pier. Their love started that day and lasted 60 wonderful years. Blanche loved to knit, crochet, cook and of course her crafting. She was a smart Woman that was successful in all her tasks. The thing she enjoyed MOST was doing anything and everything with all her grandchildren. were the joy of her life. Blanche loved people and always found a way to express her love. Everyone that knew Blanche can simply look around their home and see her love with all the crafts, sweaters, afghans, dollies and many other items she would make for them. Christmas was a favorite season for Blanche and she loved making homemade ornaments and crafts to once again share with the people she loved. Blanche had a great sense of humor and was always ready to go on any adventure. She was very active and determined to live life to fullest to the very end. She will be lovingly and sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Blanche is survived by her loving husband Fred Lax of 60 years, three sons, James Lax and wife Martha of Austin TX., Robert Lax and wife Gloria of Falmouth, Fredrick Lax and Missy Wheaton of Millinocket and daughter Cynthia Russell and husband Richard of Gorham. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, Krista Page and husband Michael of Windham, Brittany Lax of TX, Rick Anthony Casey Lax of Millinocket, and Madison Lax of TX. Allison Lax Rogers of a, Brittany Wheaton of Millinocket, Montgomery Lax of TX. and Colby and Chloe Russell of Gorham. Blanche is also survived by 9 siblings Clarence Langmead, Joan Sullivan, Burt Langmead, Russell Langmead, Jessie Butler, Norman Langmead, Sylvia Moran and Beverly Mitchell all of Newfoundland, Canada and Vera Petrula of Ontario, Canada. Blanche was predeceased by her twin brother James Langmead and brother Harry Langmead. The Family wishes to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House and The Maine for Cancer. Obituary: DATELINE: Scarborough George Robert Lawson, age 65, of Scarborough died 30, 2015 unexpectedly at his residence. He was born in Portland the son of Robert H. and Elinor Salamone Lawson. He attended Portland schools graduating from Portland High School class of 1968. George was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division from 1969- 1971. He was employed at Maine Central Railroad as a mason for 20 years until his retirement. George also was a lobbyist for the Railroad Brotherhood of Maintenance Way of Employees. He will be remembered as a dedicated lobbyist who you would find every day in the rotunda at the State Capitol when the legislature was in session. He followed politics and current events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. Spending time with his family and friends was a very special time for George. He was a Communicant of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church. He is predeceased by his father, and his son Anthony Lawson. Besides his mother of Portland, he leaves 2 Sons; Petty Officer 2nd Class USCG, Christopher and his wife Carrie Lawson of Saco, Commercial Fisherman Daniel and his wife Tijana Lawson of Scarborough, 4 Brothers; Henry and his wife Cheryl Lawson of Falmouth, Robert Lawson of Portland, Paul and his wife Michelle Lawson of Scarborough, Michael and his wife Susan Lawson of Westbrook, 6 Sisters; Marie Lawson and her wife Joanne Libby of Gorham, Elizabeth Coburn of San Diego, CA, Elinor Nelson of Portland, Helen Lawson, Portland, Carmilla Ashley of Ohio, Lillian Wakefield of Yarmouth, Grandson, Bradley Lawson, and Granddaughter Maddison Lawson. Also survived by 50 nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 9, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Federal St, Portland.
