Obituary: LEWISTON - Roland Henri Lacasse, 90, passed away peacefully on , May 30, 2016 at DYouville Pavilion. He was born in Lewiston on 7, 1925 the son of the late Arthur and Elna (Paradis) Lacasse. Roland lived in Lewiston his entire life, and was a devout Catholic, attending Mass at Holy Cross and Holy Family Churches. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an honored fourth degree Knight. Roland liked to go dancing, camping, deep sea fishing, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed ice skating and used to have an ice rink in his back yard. On a warm summer day you could find Roland in his garden or enjoying a day of barbecuing. He enjoyed music and liked to play his harmonica, as well as other down home instruments. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his significant other Ms. Bernadette Cloutier of Lewiston; three sons, Ronald of Fredericksburg, VA, Raymond and his wife Diane of Centreville, VA, and Roger and his wife Linda of Lisbon Falls; his two brothers, Paul Lacasse of Auburn, Father Robert Lacasse, OMI of Bolivia; his sisters Rita Morency of Auburn, and Lorraine Farpela of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; seven brothers, and one sister. Obituary: Patricia M. Lacasse, 65, of Lewiston, died on May 3, 2016 at the Androscoggin Hospice House. She was born in Lewiston on 3, 1950, graduated from Lewiston High School in 1968 and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Machias in 1972. She taught kindergarten in Eastport, Maine for ten years before her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis forced her into early retirement. Her career may have been brief, but she gained the hearts of many youngsters. Her very first class of students dedicated their high school yearbook to her when they graduated from high school. Pat went on to spend several good years living at the Roak Block in Auburn where she was able to enjoy some independence. She endured her condition with courage and never complained. Despite her difficult situation, she always had a smile for her visitors. Survivors include her mother, Lorraine Lacasse, now residing in Fort Kent; three sisters, Pauline Patterson and her husband Jim of Venice, Florida, Joanne Fortin and her husband Dick, of Fort Kent, and Claire Murray and her husband Jim of Millbury, Massachusetts; six nephews, Bill, Scott, Sean, Tom, Zachary, and Peter; five grand nieces, Sierra, Piper, Emma, Willa, and Brenna. She also leaves behind her devoted companion of thirty years, Bill Paradis. She was predeceased by her father, Maurice, in 2010, and her sister, Susan, in 1982. The family would like to express our gratitude to the Androscoggin Hospice House for their compassionate care at Pat's time of need. FUNERAL NOTICE: LACASSE - Patricia M., 65, died on May 3, 2016. Obituary: Muriel L. LaCasse, 83, of Portland passed away at her residence 10, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born in Auburn, May 7, 1929 a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Landry) Carrier. Muriel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed swimming at the YMCA with her husband Felix, and wintering in Port St. Lucy, Florida. the passing of her husband Felix in 1994, she joined a support group for widowers and enjoyed spending time with the members. Obituary: Lucienne Amanda Amelia (Cayouette) LaCasse died peacefully at her home in Skowhegan, on Oct. 23, 2015. She was born on 3, 1914, in Waterville, the first of three daughters born to Arthur and Cora Cayouette. the untimely death of her father in 1919, Lucienne and her two sisters moved with their mother to Skowhegan where she lived for the rest of her life.Lucienne was a very good student and graduated from Skowhegan High School and Bloomfield Academy at the age of 15 in 1930. She was the salutatorian of the first graduating class at the new high school. She wanted to attend college but her mother felt she was too young, so she then worked in several secretarial/administrative positions in Skowhegan. She competed in a number of typing contests throughout the state, and was proud of several victories. Several of her children now credit her typing skills for their academic success, even typing papers for them when they were in college. Lucienne was married to Ralph LaCasse on 21, 1937, and moved to the home where she passed away 78 years later. She was an avid reader and took her children to the Skowhegan library each week in the summer to make sure that they would have new books to read. She made sure that her children knew that education was important and always celebrated academic achievement with family parties. She also told them to treat everyone as you would like to be treated, which was sage advice. She was very proud that all of her children attended college. She was a superb cook and baker, and every meal included a freshly baked pie, cake or cookies. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Skowhegan High School athletic teams, spending many freezing days in the stands cheering for them. She always attended band concerts and her children's other school activities. She loved Notre Dame football and The Patriots, watching every game that she possibly could and cheering from the living room couch at age 101! She did crossword puzzles well into her 90s and crocheted many beautiful afghans for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Lucienne became a member of the Daughters of Isabella in , 1930 and she held many officer positions, including Past Regent. In 2013 she was recognized for her 83 years of service to the organization, longer than anyone else in the state of Maine. She was a devout Catholic and encouraged her children to live by Christian principles of honesty, charity, industry and compassion. Lucienne attributed her longevity to daily prayer, along with daily walks and a daily glass of wine; a good combination of spirituality, secularity and pleasure.Lucienne and Ralph traveled widely after he retired in 1979 and their home was decorated with many mementos of trips to national parks, a train trip across Canada and foliage trips in New England. also had been alpine skiers all of their lives, taking their children to Eaton Mountain and other areas every weekend. continued to ski into their 70s and cross country skied into their 80s. Lucienne talked frequently in the last few years about skiing from where the armory is now located all the way to the Great Eddy. Lucienne and Ralph were married for 65 years until Ralph's death in 2002. She and Ralph had seven children, all of whom now reside in Maine: Constance Craven and her husband, Richard, John and his wife Susan, Nancy Gallant and her husband Walter, David and his wife Pandora, Richard and his wife Rachel, William and his wife Lucy, and Thomas and his wife Lorie. Lucienne will also be missed by her 18 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; cousin Hortense Chagnon; nieces Carolyn Fultz and Aldea LeBlanc and nephews Arthur LeBlanc, Gerald LaCasse and his wife Dorothy..Our family would like to thank Cindy Gagnon and her wonderful, considerate team of caregivers who made it possible for our mother to remain in the home she loved these past five years.Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-7 p.m., , Oct. 30, at Smart & Edwards . Obituary: LEWISTON - Therese Fernande Labrie, 90, a longtime resident of Auburn, died , 12 at Russell Park Manor. She was born in Lewiston, daughter of the late Robert and Emilia Bergeron Gagnon. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married 2, 1946 to Robert Omer Labrie. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed at Etonic Shoe. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church. Therese enjoyed not only playing cribbage, but teaching generations how to play the game and win (but not against her). She loved taking walks with her husband, lying in the sunshine, and cooking "Memere's soup." Therese loved watching the Game Show Network, wrestling, and the Red Sox while sitting in her rocker, TV remote in hand. She will be remembered as Robert's "girl" and his best friend, a chief among chiefs, a loving and warm grandmother, and a hard-working woman with amazing attention to detail. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember the bright red lipstick stains she left on our cheeks, and wish we could have just one more. She leaves behind a legacy of love and deep commitment that will last for many generations to come. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, 9 months, and 11 days, Robert of Auburn; a daughter, Claire Strickland and husband Terry of Old Town; a son, Donald Labrie and wife Terri of LaVista, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Daniel Morrell and wife Jennifer, James Morrell and wife Erin, Jonathan Pratt and wife Dorianna, Nicole Lawrence and husband Peter, Jennifer Labrie-Pereira and husband Will, Michael Morrell and wife Erin, and Heather Noyes and husband Chris; 10 great grandchildren, Alexandar, Ashley, Bailey, Zackary, Ayla, Madelain, Liam, Emilie, Sophie, and Charles. She was predeceased by two daughters, Jeannine and Suzanne Labrie, and great-granddaughter, Jillian Morrell. Obituary: BREWER - Robert Omer Labrie, 92, a longtime resident of Auburn, was called home on 17, 2017 at Woodlands Senior Living in Brewer, Maine. Robert was born in 1924 in Lewiston, son of Omer and Veronique Labrie. He was educated in Lewiston/Auburn schools and married the love of his life, Therese F. Gagnon, on 2, 1946 upon his return from WWII. Robert proudly served his country in WWII in the 45th Infantry Division which, on 29, 1945, liberated the Dachau concentration camp. His family holds dear the flower petals from Anzio Beachhead he sent to his sweetheart while oversees. In the midst of terrible and unimaginable atrocity, he found love and beauty. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed by several shoe shops in Auburn. Robert was a man of honor and loved by all those who knew him; kind, loving, generous, hard-working, family-man, and forgiving are a few of the words that come to mind when his family thinks of him. He loved his wife Therese and would answer her hollers for Bob! with a smile on his face and ready to help. He and Therese vacationed to Bermuda, Hawaii and London, and visited family in Nebraska many times. There were many games of cribbage played over the years and many rounds of golf. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, cutting wood for the wood stove, and spending time at lost pond. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will hold dear the solid handshakes that turned into hugs and kisses, the fish chowdah he would make on special request, the numerous life lessons he taught them without them even realizing, and that smile and twinkle in his blue eyes. Dementia may have robbed him of his memories in his last few years, but it never changed whom he was at his core; a kind, generous and honest man. His legacy of hard work, love, and commitment to family will live on in each of us and the many generations to come. Robert is survived by three sisters, Therese Deschenes, Irene Delorme, and Florence Raymond of Auburn; a daughter, Claire Strickland and husband Terry of Old Town; a son, Donald Labrie and wife Terri of LaVista, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Daniel Morrell and wife Jennifer, James Morrell and wife Erin, Jonathan Pratt and wife Dorianna, Nicole Lawrence and husband Peter, Jennifer Labrie-Pereira and husband Will, Michael Morrell and wife Erin, and Heather Noyes and husband Chris; ten great grandchildren, Alexandar, Ashley, Bailey, Zackary, Ayla, Madelain, Liam, Emilie, Sophie, and Charles. He was predeceased by his sister Simone and his brother Raymond, two daughters, Jeannine and Suzanne Labrie, and great-granddaughter, Jillian Morrell.
