Obituary: MICHAEL MIKE JAMES LYTLE COX FUNERAL HOME BONITA, LA. Michael Mike James Lytle, 68, of Bonita, Louisiana was born 19, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois and died 20, 2017 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine Sheer Lytle and William Robert Lytle of Hinsdale, Illinois; and a sister, Linda Scott Nelson of Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his brother Thomas Robert Lytle and wife Jeanette Ann Greco of Longmont, Colorado, brother-in-law, Steve Nelson and nephew, William Robert Nelson, both of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by Deborah Shackelford Mock, and cousins, Kelsey Scott and Marilyn McKoin of Bonita, Catherine Ann McKoin Herrington of Bonita, Scott and Sandi McKoin of Cookeville, Tennessee and a host of cousins and extended family. Mike had a deep affection for the rural northeast corner of Louisiana countryside, where his mother had grown up. He enjoyed visiting his grandparents, the late Charles Vincent Shear and Leslie Scott Shear of Bonita, Louisiana, throughout his youth. Many summer visits during this time were spent with family at the home of his beloved aunt, Jane Shear McKoin. Mike was a National Merit Scholar at Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Illinois. He graduated with a B.A. degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign and later earned his CPA degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Mike audited for Hart, Schaffner, and Marx, after which he moved to Bonita where he opened and owned a CPA and Notary Public Service. He also served as Mayor of the Village of Bonita for two terms and this began his sincere interest in keeping the village in good shape. Under his administration, he sponsored the Alligator Festival and Trade Days. He was often found at Bonita Elementary School helping with activities there also. The Bonita Museum was organized under Mikes mayorship, providing a visual and lasting piece of history of the village and surrounding communities. Respected for his knowledge and love of Bonita, townspeople came to him for advice. He was known as the towns go-to authority for everything. Mikes love for his community and civic duties extended into Morehouse Parish, where he served as a member of the Morehouse Economic Development board and was a board member for Morehouse Parish Farm Bureau Insurance . Mike will be missed. He was a great man, kind, caring, smart. Alexis Carrel might have been speaking about Mike when he said, Great men are gifted with intuition. know without reasoning or analysis, what they need to know. For those who wish, the family suggest planned memorials be made to Evergreen Life Services, 4400 Viking Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111 or to the charity of the donors choice.
