Obituary: Thomas D. Logan, 86, died peacefully on 29, 2015. The son of Felix Leslie Logan, Sr., and Esther Bresnahan Logan, Tom attended Fort Wayne Saint Judes and is said to have been the first child baptized in the new church. The Logan Boys of Curdes Avenue, Tom, Les and Terry, later made noise aplenty at Central Catholic High School where Tom was awarded three varsity letters and selected to the 1947 All-City Football Team. The boys then settled down some as all three followed Les, Sr. to Notre Dame, where Tom and Terry played football as Freshmen. However, Toms true calling was in the classroom, as quickly manifested by his selection as President of his Sophomore class, a position held by Les, Sr. some thirty years prior. Tom graduated from Notre Dame cum laude, and from Indiana University Law School with distinction. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, and to the National Scholastic Law School Honorary Society, and was an Associate Editor of the Notre Dame Lawyer and the Indiana University Law Journal. Following graduation, Tom graduated from military Finance School at Fort Benjamin Harrison and was assigned to the United Armed Forces in the Far East where he served eighteen months in Korea (all three brothers served). an honorable discharge, Tom accepted a position as Teaching Fellow at Indiana University Law School at Bloomington. He then began a long and very successful law practice with a host of highly esteemed partners, including Sol Rothberg, Clarence R. McNabb, Richard T. Doermer, Thomas A. Gallmeyer, and George E. Fruechtenicht at Rothberg, Gallmeyer, Fruechtenicht & Logan, now Rothberg Logan & Warsco. He was associated with the American of Lawyers, American Associates of Airport Executives, and National Association of Bond Lawyers, and specialized for many years in the practice of healthcare law. During his practice he served as counsel to various hospitals in the northeastern part of the state, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission, and the Fort Wayne Allen Airport Authority, and acted on behalf of many corporations and individuals. He served as President of the Allen Bar Association in 1979 and 1980. Tom was selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America during the years 1991-2006, and featured in a 2009 Indiana Lawyer article entitled Setting a Legal Precedent, highlighting his influence on sons Timothy and Paul Anthony Logan, and nephews F.L. Dennis and James Emmett Logan, all of whom practice law. Indeed, he influenced many young men to enter the field as well as to read, write, travel and share the joys of family life. Tom was a member and served on the Board of Directors of various local organizations including the Parkview Hospital Foundation, where he also served as President. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel 4048, where he served as Grand Knight. He was a member of Quest Club, where he served as President. He was on the Board of Directors of the Fort Wayne Country Club. And above all, Tom was known as a kind, patient, liberal-minded, Democratic-leaning, Irish gentleman and loving family person, who surely followed the tenet, I believe the best of every man. And find that to believe is enough to make a bad man show him at his best, or even a good man swing his lantern higher. He was a devoted husband and father and prized each of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed being with his extended family, loved golf, excelled at writing and speaking, and enjoyed extended vacations with his wife Carol, also a world traveler. Tom had a loving heart and many friends to whom he was much devoted. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Carol Ann Cusick Logan; two sons, Timothy of Fort Wayne, and Paul of Indianapolis; two daughters, Jill (Michael) Thierwechter of Indianapolis, and Mary Elaine (Kurt) Steckbeck of Chicago; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; and, many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father F. Leslie Logan (1968), mother Esther C. Logan (1986), and brothers Felix Leslie Logan, Jr. (1970) and Terrance J. Logan (2004). A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on , 5, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Rd., Fort Wayne, with visitation from 9:00 am - 11:00 am prior. Preferred memorials to the Bishop Luers Scholarship Fund, 333 East Paulding Road, Fort Wayne; Parkview Foundation, 10622 Parkview Plaza Drive, Fort Wayne; and/or, Visiting Nurse. Obituary: Stephen Duane Logan, our very heart and soul, devoted husband and father, left this earth , 6, 2015. Steve was an outdoorsman, always looking for the beauty in nature; a rippling creek, uncut forests, spotting pileated woodpeckers and birds of all sorts. He grew up in the mountains of Colorado and the spirit of the mountains lived within his soul. Steve loved learning and he had an incredible ability to absorb and retain any subject that intrigued him. He was fascinated by the Old West, and regularly listened to Gun Smoke on the radio with childlike glee. Steve saw such beauty in American history, and he loved to read and share all of his knowledge. His wit and intellect together made him the most interesting and hilarious person to spend time with. His life was motivated by his love of his wife and family. There was no limit to his generosity, and he gave of himself to the very end. Steves death was sudden and life will never be the same without him. His life was a gift to all who knew and loved him, and we are all better for knowing him. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Coburn) Logan, Nashville, daughters, Emily Susan (Logan) Dover and Stephenny Logan, grandchildren, Avery, Lincoln, and Penelope Dover and Lainey Logan, father and step-mother, H. Duane and Cleta Logan, brothers, David Logan, Shelbyville and Russell Logan, Austin, TX.. He was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Duane Logan and his mother, Dorothy Elaine (Matthews) Logan. A Memorial service will be held , 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Nashville United Methodist Church, 36 S. Jefferson St., Nashville. Rev. Mary Cartwright will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the church from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Learn to love without condition. Talk without bad intention. Give without reason. And most of all for people without any expectation Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Raptor , Nashville, IN.
