Obituary: Vera Jane Layman, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 90 on , 29, 2014 at Franklin United Methodist Community. She was married on 27, 1941, to Everett Ellis Layman, who preceded her in death on 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Harvey, Francis, and Wendell Zellers. Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and David Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Everett and Jacquelyn Layman; her grandchildren, Pam Keys, Lee Ann Burleson, Derek Burleson, Chad Layman, Shawn Layman, Heather Boyd; her great-grandchildren, Tarrah Brown, Brandon Keys, Matthew Keys, Cortney Cohee, Seth Burleson, Cody Burleson, Harrison Layman, Claire Layman, William Layman, Ella Layman, Courtney Layman, Kristin Layman; and her great-great grandchildren, Colton Bond and Brody Bond. Also surviving is one sister, Donna Correll; one brother, Edward Zellers, and many nieces and nephews. Born on 21, 1923, in Logansport, Indiana, Vera was part of "The Greatest Generation." She was an inspiration to others and always demonstrated love and compassion. Vera was an avid reader who also enjoyed genealogy. Above all else, she dearly loved and cared for her family. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her strength and humor. Vera will be sorely missed by both family and friends. Visitation will be on , 3rd from 9:00AM to 10:00AM at Little & Sons in Indianapolis with services immediately following. Obituary: Barbara Jean (Greubel) Layman, 74, of Evansville, died , May 31, at the Charlier VNA Hospice, after a brief illness. Her family was present, and she passed away peacefully. Barbara was born to Rudolph and Marjorie (Cummins) Greubel in 1940 in Vincennes. She graduated from St. Rose Academy in 1958. She went on to study nursing at St. Anthonys School of in Terre Haute, and graduated with the class of 1961. Barbara worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Medical . She was retired at the time of her death. Barbara was an extraordinarily generous person, helping her patients, friends, family, and strangers with an open heart. She loved art, and was an accomplished painter, as well as making beautiful glass bead mosaics. She also enjoyed gardening. Barbara was an animal lover. She made a home for many different pets throughout her life, with a special love for cats. Her cats were her beloved companions. She is survived by her children, Kim (Chris) Barron of Evansville, and Greg Layman of Carmel. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen (Bill) Coates of Evansville, grandchildren, niece and nephews. Visitation will be , 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Alexander East Chapel. A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlier VNA Hospice, or the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
