Obituary: Mrs. Hazel Catherine Shedd Landers, 77, wife of the late Henry Hal Landers, passed away peacefully at her home on , 10, 2015. A native of Athens, GA, Hazel was born and raised in Oglethorpe . She worked for many years at the University of Georgia in a variety of departments as a Senior Secretary. She retired in the early 90's to spend time with her husband and pets. Hazel was an avid lover of nature; plants and animals. Throughout her lifetime she has cared for and loved hundreds of dogs, cats, and other animals. She enjoyed sewing and made many outfits for her children in their younger years, and began quilting in her later years. She was a longtime member of and active supporter of Prospect United Methodist Church, Athens, since 1965. She is survived by her children, Kay Landers and Mike Landers, and brother, Jimmy Shedd, all of Athens. Additional survivors include sister-in-law, Martha Rogers Shedd and two nephews, Clint Shedd and Clay Shedd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Landers and brother, Glenn Shedd. The family will receive friends at Bernstein on evening, 12th from 6-8PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Athens Area Humane Society. Donations can be sent by mail to Athens Area Humane Society at 1781 Mars Hill Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677, or you can donate at the web site: www.athenshumanesociety.org. Obituary: David "Dave" Landers, age 65, of Kennesaw passed away on , 17, 2016. David was one of three children born to David and Doris Landers. He obtained his Associates from John Patterson Technical in Montgomery, Alabama. At the young age of 19, David enlisted in the United States Navy while living in Prattville, Alabama. He underwent additional training as an electronic technician and obtained the national defense service medal until he returned to civilian life in 1975. David was an avid golfer, enjoyed the water, and had worked for IBM as an IT Manager for 15 years. David and his loving wife, Donna, had two children together: David and Kristy. Their family later grew to include two grandchildren and one on the way. David was a great husband and father. He coached his son through both basketball and baseball and also coached his daughter in softball. He loved his family, especially his grandbabies. David also cared for his two dogs, Jack and Lucy. David is preceded in death by his father, David Landers Sr. He is survived by his wife, Donna Landers of Kennesaw; mother, Doris Virginia Landers; son, David Landers Jr. and his wife, Marissa, of Kennesaw; daughter, Kristina "Kristy" Soodavar and her husband, Charles, of Heidelberg, Germany; brother, Wayne Landers and his wife, Kathie, of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Ginger Kelly and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Charlie Soodavar, Sophie Soodavar, and grandchild on the way, Ansley Landers. The family will receive friends , 19, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge in Kennesaw. Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home's chapel with Pastor Ron Mobley officiating. Entombment will follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw. Donations may be made in David's honor to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. |
