Obituary: Carolyn Beverly Woods Koppenberger, age 86, passed peacefully 15, 2015, at her home in Jacksonville. Carolyn, originally from Bangor Maine, moved to Jacksonville in 1963. She was an avid Bridge player, active member at CrossRoad United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, accomplished pianist, and the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Peter Koppenberger Jr. were founders and owners of Jacksonvilles favorite hot dog restaurant, The Orange Tree. We take comfort in knowing that as they did in life, they are dancing together in Heaven. Carolyn is survived by daughter, Ann Roeber and her husband Frank, of Jacksonville; son, Karl Koppenberger of Jacksonville, son, Fritz Koppenberger and his wife Karen of Houston, Texas, son, Jim Koppenberger and his wife Josie of Jacksonville; and daughter, Julie K. Mitchell and her husband Stephen of Houston, Texas; her 8 grandchildren, Amy Emling and her husband Shawn, Brooke Koppeberger, Peter Kyle Koppenberger and fiancé Amber Alder, Jaclyn Taylor and her husband Jackson, Ashley Zumberge and husband Alex, Krista Koppenberger, Iles Mitchell, and Justin Koppenberger; and 2 great-grandchildren, Rachel Emling and Jack Emling. Memorial services will be held at her church, CrossRoad United Methodist Church, 10005 Gate Parkway N, Jacksonville, FL 32246 on , 25, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Obituary: Tilba J. Rocca Koppel entered peacefully into eternal rest at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on 6, 2016. She was born in Bronx, NY and raised in Madison, CT. graduating high school, Tibbie accepted a job with the New England Telephone in New Haven, CT where she worked hard and eventually became employed by AT&T. Tibbie enjoyed spending time with her two nieces, Kim and Jacqueline and her nephew John. She loved, adored and spoiled them. In their eyes, she was more like a second mother. She relocated to Florida in 1977, where she continued to work for AT&T until retiring in 1982 after 35 years of dedicated service. She then married in 1982 to Michael Koppel. Tibbie was truly a woman of substance with a heart of gold. She was admired and respected by her friends and family for her generosity, courage and independence. She lived everyday to the fullest, keeping herself busy from morning till night. Tibbie was predeceased by her father, Eugene Rocca; mother, Rose Rocca; brother, Frederick Rocca; sister, Kathryn Rocca Milum; nephew, John Milum, Jr., and Michael Koppel. She is survived by her niece, Kim Milum of Madison, CT, niece, Jacqueline Milum Lee, her husband Richard and their four children, Matthew, Meredith, Alexandra and Donovan of Point Pleasant, NJ, and devoted cousin Danny Gazzola and his wife Joan of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She will be dearly missed. Private Services and Burial were held for Family. |

Obituary: Leopold Koppel, born 29, 1922 in Monchengladbach, Germany, peacefully passed away at almost age 95 on 24, 2017 at home in Jacksonville, Fl, with his eldest daughter, Karen and her husband Andy. He was lovingly cared for and surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, dear friends, family and caregivers. Leo previously lived in Fort Plain, NY and spent winters in San Juan, PR. Leo was the youngest of seven children, born to Mendel and Cicilia (Goldman). He and his family came to the United States in 1938 to escape Nazi persecution. He graduated from Westwood High (NJ) in 1940 and received his BS degree in Chemistry from NYU in 1943. Leo moved to Richmond, VA where he worked as a chemist at Dixie Wine . Leo married Lore Baer of Fort Plain in 1949 and joined her family’s meatpacking business, serving as president until it closed. Sadly, after 62 years of marriage, Lore passed away on May 14, 2011. Leo instilled love of family, country, intellectual curiosity and benevolence in all around him. He was a deeply religious man who belonged to synagogues in Amsterdam and NYC, NY, San Juan, and Jacksonville, FL. He was an avid tennis and ping pong player, involved in local civic causes and clubs, and along with his wife, active in every level of Republican politics. He enjoyed travel, especially cruising, and above all spending time with his family and beloved dogs. People from around the world will remember him for his warmth, humor, advice, generosity, and dispensing of $2 bills given to bring the recipient “good luck and good health”. He will be interred 30th in Cedar Park , Paramus, NJ, next to his wife, parents, brothers and sisters. There will be a memorial service May 5th at the Temple, 8727 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32217 at 12 noon. He is survived by his children Karen Rose Koppel Kaunitz (Andrew), Barbara Sue Koppel Pedley (Timothy), Anita Baer Koppel Blackman (Ralph) and Paul Ira Koppel (Sheila), grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth and Nathaniel Mark Pedley (Sarah), Kate Baer and David Koppel Kaunitz (Heather), Max Baer and Mia Lillian Cicilia Blackman, Alexander Jacob Koppel and great-granddaughter Kinleigh Rose Kaunitz. The family thanks all of his caregivers, especially Vanessa Coleman, Randy Shilling, the Visiting Angels, his UF doctors Samir Array, Stephanie Carstens and James “Dave” Cury and his dentist, Ronald Elinoff, as well as his nurses, physical and occupational therapists and everyone who visited him.
