Obituary: Debbie Greene Koenig passed away peacefully at HPH Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Debbie wouldn let this nasty disease keep her down, living life to the fullest right up until she went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2016. Born in Coral Gables, Florida on 6, 1953, she graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1971. Debbie graduated from Florida International University with a degree in criminal justice. She met her husband Bill in 1978 and they married that same year, the riots and the Marialito boat lift in 1980, she left Miami with Bill to settle in Hernando . In the early years of living in Hernando , Debbie worked in both banking and teaching adult education. In 1990, Debbie saw an opportunity to work at Northwest Airlines as a reservation agent in Tampa, accepting early retirement after 16 years. Debbie had several loves in her life: Bill, stepdaughter Barbara Koenig Wolf, son-in-law Chris Wolf and Miranda and Maverick Wolf, her two beautiful grandchildren. Debbie is also survived by her father Mel Greene, brother Danny Greene (LaGena) and her cousins Sue Pellegrino (Lou) and Richard Rabinoff (Alison). She is pre-deceased by her mother Judy Greene. There will be a Celebration of Life (Open House) on 4th, 2016 at the Hernando Beach Club (3145 Flamingo Blvd, Hernando Beach, FL 34607) between 2 PM and 6 PM. Obituary: Charles R. Koenig Charlie passed away 10th 2014 from injuries sustained in a tragic accident at home. He will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Always impeccably dressed, Charlie loved his family, helping people, fast cars, a winning lottery ticket and a buttered roll with coffee for breakfast. Charlie was born on 28th 1937, in Irvington, NJ to the parents of Nellie Nicol and William T. Koenig. He was predeceased by his brother William Sonny Koenig, Jr. He will always be remembered and loved by his wife of 54 years, Joyce M. Koenig, daughters, Jill Pettus and Jacqueline Davis, grandsons, Kyle Pettus, Cameron Rivera, Dylan Pettus, Wyatt Davis and great-granddaughters, Kailey and Skyler Pettus. A New Jersey native, Charlie was a Baker in the family business, served in the Army as a cook, (stationed in Germany in the same platoon as Elvis Presley) and for most of his life a small business owner. While in New Jersey, he started his own family business, Kays Vending with his wife. This was indeed a family affair; the whole family pitched in and has fond memories of hard work and a garage full of candy, chips, hostess cupcakes, ice cream and more. Charlie became affectionately known as The Candy Man and Chuckles to all who knew him. In Florida, he owned and operated Deep Shine auto detailing. It was there that his life-long love of cars and his gift for keeping cars in pristine condition really shined. His daughters are proud to have inherited that gift from him. The family recalls the day in 2012 when Charlie finally decided to sell the Z28-Camaro he purchased new in 1986. That 26 year old car looked like it just rolled off the factory line. Charlie took care of his family and everyone he cared about in the exact same way. Charlie etired in 2001, however he was not a man to sit still, instead he started working at Brewer and Sons as Fleet Manager. It was there that his skill for finding the best deal on anything was notorious. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing for everything, not just cars, to get the best deal even though it wasn for him. He was so proud of the deals he could get and everyone was amazed and grateful. Charlie finally called it quits in 2012 and spent his retirement enjoying time with his wife and visiting his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in South Florida. He would wash and wax his cars for hours on end. He started most days with a danish or buttered roll and coffee with his buddies at Winn Dixie imparting his words of wisdom on various subjects to anyone who needed advice. He enjoyed watching the birds and cursed the squirrels. With BB gun in hand, he was always trying to outsmart the squirrels who would pillage the many bird feeders in the backyard . Charlie was a man that could truly be depended upon to help whenever and wherever he could. He could prescribe a vitamin cure for what was ailing you that actually worked, he found a great deal on a used car for you, your son or daughter, give you advice when buying a house, share a good stock tip, (he should have bought stock in creamy peanut butter because he put it on everything and ate it by the spoonful daily), pick the winning horse in the Kentucky Derby, even help you and your shopping cart get home in the pouring rain so you had a way to get back to Winn Dixie the next day to visit with your friends while getting soaked himself. Thank you Jerry for your friendship, Charlie is still keeping an eye on you. He was always a prankster; the family found photo copies of a $100 bill that they are sure he used to play pranks on unsuspecting people who thought they found money. Charlie was a character and had a great sense of humor. Charlies wife is thankful for the many years they had together. He gave her two beautiful daughters, who gave them four beautiful grandsons and two beautiful great-granddaughters. Charlie was not an idle man; he was always on the go. He was a happy, healthy man who did not suffer from a single health problem. At 77 he didn need glasses, didn have any cavities, did not take any medication, he did however take a whole host of vitamins every day. He attributed his stunning health to these vitamins. Charlie was a kind and caring man who took precious care of his beloved wife through two hip replacements while working full-time. Looking back over their life together there is nothing but joy and happiness, sure they had some rough patches, but the love they shared always brought them through it. Charlies daughters will honor him by loving and caring for their mother in a manner befitting him and his memory. Charlies daughters hearts are filled with the memories of an amazing, hardworking father that was always there for them as a confidant, friend and protector. His daughters love of sports, fast cars, their street smarts and immeasurable other elements of their being are all thanks to him. Their childhood memories include countless moments of a man who loved and would do anything for his family. There were times when he would come home from a 20 hour day and still drop down to the floor to give his girls a horsey back ride. Eating chocolate chips straight from the tub in the bakery, trips to Seaside Heights New Jersey to win a new set of dishes eat clams on the half-shell, going crabbing, trying to go out on the boat that would never start on Green Lake, annual vacations to Florida, coaching their softball teams, playing ball in the streets with the neighbor kids, teaching them to drive and chasing away poor choices for boy friends.
