Obituary: Mayveril Lee Kramer Lee Kramer passed away unexpectedly in Visalia on 6, 2011. She was born 74 years ago on 20, 1936 in Madera, CA. She was raised by her grandmother along with her two younger sisters. Over the decades the sisters have remained close. Lee attended U.C. Davis and graduated from Fresno State. She met Ken Kramer, the love of her life, at a 4-H All-Star conference. married in 1957 and settled in Visalia to raise their family. She will be remembered for her independence, resilience and sense of humor. She loved show tunes and many days could be heard singing or whistling songs from South Pacific or The King and I as she worked on other projects. She was a teacher of English and Economics at Ivanhoe School, Valley Oak, and Green Acres Middle Schools. retirement she kept in touch with her colleagues at breakfasts where she was known as Basemama. For over twenty-five years Lee was an active 4-H leader, first with her three children and after they had grown, continued teaching sewing to many 4-H members. Despite having glaucoma, she spent many hours with an illuminated magnifier stitching miniature pillows for troops deployed overseas as part of a Visalia Embroiders Guild project. She was a past president of the chapter. In a recent Times-Delta article, she said, These are our contributions to the people who are serving our country. e more than just numbers. I can tell you how many I stitched and gave away, I truly lost count. Lee was also involved with the Visalia United Methodist Church and the local P.E.O. Chapter, which supports women in education. She is survived by her sisters, Lou Brill of Arroyo Grande and Rogierre Wilcox of Sacramento. Sister-in-law, Marian Ayers of and brother-in-law Richard Kramer of Bakersfield. Her son, Douglas Kramer, wife Lori, grandchildren Jake and Sarah of San Luis Obispo; daughter, Linda Middlecamp husband David, grandson Scott of San Luis Obispo; and her son, Roger Kramer, wife Beth, grandsons Jason Fitzgerald and Stephen Kramer of Menifee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by husband H. Kenneth Kramer in 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity. Visitation will be held at the Visalia Miller Memorial Chapel on , Jan. 13, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at Visalia United Methodist Church at 5200 West Caldwell on Jan. 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be offered at www.millerchapel.com under the direction of Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia under the direction of Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia, CA. |
