Obituary: Our beloved mother Helen Eilleen Klein, passed away on 29th, 2014 in Bremerton, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer disease, she was 87. Born to Guy and Ione Rogers and survived by sons John, James, Jerome, Joseph, and daughter Jennifer Klein, along with 2 grandchildren Nickolas and Katelyn.
Mom spent 33 wonderful years with Dad and she had a true devolution to her family.
Daughter Jennifer has many fond memories of Mom and wanted to share this I want to tell you about an amazing woman, My Mom. She and I used to enjoy walks together. We always talked about everything and I cherish every walk and memory I have of her. She loved to laugh, I got that from her.
My favorite memory is when Mom used to get me up in the morning for school. She would sing me awake by singing get up, get out of bed, wake up you sleepy head, bringing a smile to my face, lol.
Mom was a wonderful Mother and I cherish the memories that I have of her. I miss her and love her so much.

Moms spent her early years in Oregon, and because of family needs, she wasn able to finish school. She told us that her family needed her and she always put family first.
Married to her beloved husband John Klein for 33 years, but because of colon cancer their years were cut short, but together they had five kids, calling Bremerton their home for the past 40 years. Some of our fondest family memories were traveling up and down the coasts of Washington and Oregon. As long as we were all together, that was what mattered most to our Mom and us!
At the age of 68 our mother studied and received her GED. She was very proud of this accomplishment! She promised our dad she was going to do this and she did, walking to Olympic without a complaint.
Mom was very much a people person and enjoyed socializing at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church where she made many lifelong friends. The good people from church would remember her for writing Senior Report which she enjoyed reciting, and handing out many copies to friends.
Mom loved her family and when our dad was sick and in the hospital, she stayed faithfully next to his side day and night until the end. And when Moms sisters family suffered a tragedy Mom was right there helping, to this day they fondly refer to Mom as their favorite Aunt!
Mom loved to walk as well; she was always able and willing. I, Jerome, remember taking many walks with her, she never tired either, and while walking kids would yell to her hey peppermint candy lady. Mom would stop, turn, smiling ear to ear, passing out their favorite candies to them. She loved that!
Mom also loved to walk Lions Field, she used to pass younger people on the pathway and people would look at her in amazement. And on several occasions people would come up to me saying that our Mom was cool!

Mom taught us many valuable lessons as well, mainly, to treat people as we would like to be treated, always pay your bills, and to count your blessings. She always had a smile on her face and the best attitude, and boy could she laugh. One Christmas shed play with her first grandchild for hours, tossing the beach ball back and forth, laughing the whole time!
In her later years she was not able to walk and she was in bed for many years, she took this all in stride, she kept a positive attitude the whole time and every caregiver and nurse said how nice she was. In fact one of Moms favorite caregiver, Amanda even called her Mama!
Needing help while in bed Mom have many caregivers and in all that time I never heard her say a cross word about anyone, although, one time when one of her caregivers, who was very musical, was playing a flute for her, mom told her politely hey you, knock it off and later mom asked me ot to encourage her. Lol.
She was truly truly a special and unique person, and we find peace that shes with her beloved husband in heaven, hand and hand once again.
Our caring Mom will be forever missed.

Obituary: Gail Roxanne Klein died in her Ballard home at sixty-nine years of age on 2, 2014. She spent most of her life battling Chrons Disease, beat cancer during her early sixties, and had struggled with heart problems in recent years. Gail is survived by her loving family and many lifelong friends, who have lost a fabulously talented and exceedingly warm human being.

Born Gail Roxanne Bennett in Chula Vista, California, she was the third child of Gordon and Betty Bennett. She grew up in many places as the daughter of an Air Force Officer, with her older siblings Ruth and Mike. During Gails childhood, the Bennett family moved from San Diego, California to Waco, Texas to Austin, Texas, then back to Chula Vista, California to live with her grandparents for a time. then lived in Tripoli, Libya for two and a half years before relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they remained until Gordon Bennetts retirement from the Air Force in 1959 when they moved to the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. relocated permanently to Federal Way, Washington in the Redondo Beach area in 1960. Gail graduated from Federal Way High School, and went on to Western Washington State University in Bellingham, Washington to pursue a Bachelor of Art in Art Education.

In 1967, Gail married guitarist Terry Clements, with whom she had her only child, Steffan Terry Clements, in of 1968. Gail graduated from Western in 1970, and split with Terry about four years later. She then moved back to the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Seattle, and worked as a Horticultural Technician for many years at the P & G Plant .

During Gails teen years and early twenties, she immersed herself in music. She was a talented sketch artist, jewelry maker, and an avid bead collector. She worked on television and radio commercials, sang and acted with the First Chamber Dance at the Seattle Repertory Theatre, performed in clubs in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Canada as a lead vocalist and guitar player, and taught basic folk guitar and beginning voice lessons. Her first singing duo was Clements and Levack. Next, she performed in a trio called Nightingale alongside Kathy Heivel and Steve Johnson. Her most successful band, BLT, consisted of herself, Paul West, and alternately Rolf Johnson and Leland Phelps. were a popular folk band in the Pacific Northwest during the 1970s, and recorded an album at Music Farm Studio in Seattle, Washington entitled BLT to which Gail contributed lead vocals, guitar, and harmony. Gail sang in jazz clubs all over Seattle, accompanied by former bandmates and friends, through the 1990s.

A lover of language and literature, Gail spoke English, conversational German and Arabic, and a little Japanese. She loved J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Agatha Christie and Dean Koontz. She spent a great deal of time reading suspense, thriller, and fantasy novels. Gail was also a fan of cinema, and enjoyed watching American and Japanese horror films, suspense, Anime, stop-motion animation and fantasy. She had just finished watching the second season of HBOs Game of Thrones series with her granddaughter, Crystal, and was about to begin the third.
At home, Gail engaged in her many hobbies and cared for a great number of adopted cats throughout her life. She spent entire days reading in bed with her first granddaughter, instilling in her a love for literature and lavender oil. She shared her green thumb with her grandchildren as well, growing tomatoes (her favorite), sunflowers, strawberries, peas, and small flowers. While her grandchildren were small, she brought them to Burger King and did an art project with them every . She always wrapped gifts in the comic sections from saved newspapers, wore sequins and costume jewelry whenever she could, and collected and laminated fallen leaves from Woodland Park. She was very serious about condiments, especially ketchup and pickled jalapeños.

A woman of many talents, Gail worked with ceramics, dabbled in cartooning, practiced Tai Chi, rode horses, enjoyed cooking, and worked briefly as a massage therapist. She consistently surprised and delighted her loved ones with eclectic skills and talents. Her thirst for knowledge and new experiences led her to travel the world extensively during her adult life.

In the 1990s she married Dick Klein; they were married until his death in late 2013. She and Dick traveled the world, experiencing diverse art, food, and culture, for many years during their marriage. She sailed many times through the San Juan Islands, and to Alaska as first mate of the Honeybun II, catching a 173lb halibut at the height of her angling career. She traveled throughout England and went to Scotland, exploring the land of her ancestors, the McPherson Clan. She kissed the Blarney Stone during her time in Ireland, and toured New Zealand. She traveled many times to Australia, collecting Aboriginal art and musical instruments, and developing a fascination with the natural beauty of the country.
Sharp-witted, intelligent, and funny, Gail was a wonderful conversationalist and hostess. Her warm, friendly presence filled every room she entered; she had a laugh that could be heard from blocks away. Gail maintained many friendships from her high school days, and invested in new ones until the end of her life. She always had time for a chat, and was a consistently sympathetic, loving, and non-judgmental ear for her many friends and relatives.

Gail now joins a number of her close friends and family members in death, and leaves behind many more who will grieve her passing. She is survived by her mother Betty Bennett, her son Steffan Clements and his wife Hayley, her granddaughters Crystal Yragui, Kaitlyn Clements, and Allison Clements, her sister Ruth Bennett, her brother Mike Bennett, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
