Obituary: Woodroe Wilson (Bill) Kiser Sr., 96, our father, grandfather and patriarch, passed away 13, 2011 at his home in Meskill with his family at his side. Bill was born May 29, 1915 in Morganton, North Carolina to John Dock and Thula Mae (Sudie) Kiser as the younger of two surviving children. When he was four years old the family relocated to Dryad, WA, where he began his education, graduating from Boistfort High School in 1933. His early employment consisted of driving a school bus for Boistfort School and clerking for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). He began boxing in the CCC and became good enough to compete, winning the SW Washington Golden Gloves Middleweight Championship. He met a beautiful southern girl from Georgia, Dana Chamberlin, and married her 27, 1937. In 1943 they moved their growing family to Meskill, which is still the family home.
