Obituary: Charles Henry King, a longtime resident of the Coachella Valley for 64 years, died in Indio on 31, 2015. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on 23, 1928 to Beulah (Walker) and Henry King. Being the youngest of five children, his family affectionately called him Babe.

His family were hard working folks in rural Arkansas but were also musicians, including Charlie, who played mandolin by the age of 7 when the King Family Orchestra entertained on the radio and at dances.

The King Family made the difficult move to California during the Dust Bowl. By day the family picked fruits, vegetables, cotton, etc. up and down California and Oregon. By night they picked banjos, fiddles, guitars and mandolins, entertaining at the dances held at the Migrant Farm Labor Camps where they lived. Theirs was truly a very similar story to John Steinbecks classic novel The Grapes of Wrath. As a matter fact, the family band was discovered at the Arvin Farm Labor Camp and cast in the famous film The Grapes of Wrath where they played the music for the camp dance.

However, Charlies real legacy began in 1944 when as a Beaumont High School student he met a Banning girl named Novella Danchak. She became his best friend and lifetime partner, marrying on 27, 1948. Sorry, Mr. Shakespeare. No truer love story was ever told. Together they made a loving home in Indio where they raised a family of seven children - all musical no less - and became active contributing members of the community including Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where Charlie served a term as Knights of Columbus Grand Knight and participated in the 3rd Degree.

a massive stroke in 1975 which necessitated his leaving the Automobile Club of Southern Californias active employment, Charlie was determined to rehabilitate himself and he was successful. Besides his active family life where he supported his childrens every musical, theatrical, sporting and academic endeavor, he received an Associate of Arts degree at of the Desert, was a member of the OLPH Parish Council, worked in RCIA and sang bass in the choir. He also became the first man to join the John F. Kennedy Hospital Auxiliary where he became president and worked side by side with Novella for more than 30 years.

Charlie is survived by Novella, his wife of 67 years; his seven children and their spouses Bennie King Driskell (Bob), Charles King Jr. (Stephanie), Glenn King (Lisa Marie), John Stanley King, Jeanette King Hurwitz (Michael), Ronnie King (Lisa Pearl) and Bobby King (Sylvia).

Charlies greatest joy was his family including his grandchildren Andrew, Gregory, David Driskell and Katie Driskell Morris, Guinivere King, Amy King Stark, Matthew King, Ryan King, Sarah King, Regan King, Danny King, Danielle King, Sammy King, Joey King, Mason and Owen King. He also leaves three great grandchildren, Annabelle and Abigail Stark and Deacon Driskell.

He is also survived by his sister Julia Marken, nieces Cindy Eakins, Sandra Griffith, nephew Larry Batchelor, Brother in-law John Danchak Jr., nephew Terry Danchak, Michael Danchak,
and niece Allison Krasniak.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harlen, John, and Bill King,
nephew Randy Danchak, and by his grandson, Charles Henry King III.
He was a most loving and generous man who will be missed by many. If he could leave one more bit of wisdom with everyone (besides loving each other and taking care of Novella), it would simply be Keep on Keepin On.

Services will be held on , 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church
in La Quinta, CA where Charlie has been a parishioner and usher for 20 years. Interment will follow at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Memory of
Charles H King at www.heart.org or 800-242-8721.

Obituary: Molly S. King, beloved wife and mother, generous friend and neighbor, staunch supporter and proud citizen of Santa Paula, and faithful member of the Baháí Faith, was freed from the bonds of this world on 11, 2016. She lived 91 lucky and wonderful years, as she often said herself.

Molly Virginia Skinner was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on 30, 1925. She was the first daughter of Walter Raymond Skinner, Electra city manager, and Irene Aderholt Skinner, schoolteacher and crossword puzzle champion.

Molly attended North Texas State Teachers in Denton, and graduated with a major in English from University of Texas at Austin in 1946, where she had the privilege of working for tuition as a student assistant in the Rare Books Collection of the University (then located in the famous Texas Tower). She later received a master's degree in English from the University of Michigan, and a teaching credential from Claremont Graduate School.

In 1945, she met Charlton Russell King, LTJG, an Annapolis graduate in flight training in Odessa, Texas and Pensacola, Florida; they married the following year. Their first child, Margaret Jane, was born in 1947 at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. A second daughter, Charlton Anne, was born in 1951 in Ann Arbor, Michigan while Russell was teaching in the NROTC program. During Russells post-war service as a Naval Aviator, the Kings were stationed in French Morocco, then Naples, Italy where son Walter Russell was born in 1953. The family of five returned to the U.S. on the RMS Queen Elizabeth and settled back in Ann Arbor, where Russell attended law school at the University of Michigan, and a third daughter, Nancy Randolph, was born in 1954. In 1957 the family moved to California, first to Palo Alto, then in 1959 to Claremont. In 1963 the King family, now with their fifth child, Miriam Irene, born that same year, moved to Santa Paula. Russells private law practice served the community until his passing in 2006.

In 1957 while living in Ann Arbor, Molly became a member of the Baháí Faith, which became the spiritual center of her life, and which she served faithfully and energetically since then. Her efforts to help end discrimination and dedication to equality and justice blossomed in the late 1950s. In service to the Baháí Faith, she was a member of the National Baháí Advisory Committee on Education, the Southern California Baháí Schools Committee, and a first contributor of the award-winning Brilliant Star magazine for children. Molly traveled to Nicaragua and many destinations throughout the US as a speaker and consultant for Baháí education, and fulfilled Baháí pilgrimage to Haifa, Israel in 1970. From 1976 until her retirement in 1994, Mollys work as Program Director of the Bosch Baháí School in Santa Cruz, California would be her most gratifying. For many years she served on the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baháís of Santa Paula, where she was a stalwart and inspiring leader.

Mollys home was a beacon to all, for Baháís and any curious seeker and friend alike, where regular fireside and interfaith meetings, Baháí Holy Day celebrations and Feast gatherings overflowed with love and fellowship. She joyfully shared, tirelessly taught, and consistently embodied the Baháí tenet of the unity of the human race.

Mollys interests and commitments to the city of Santa Paula were many. From 1990 to 2004 she served as a volunteer docent/tour coordinator at the California Oil Museum. She could often be seen greeting guests arriving at the Santa Paula Train Depot, leading historic walking tours and promoting the towns museums, murals, and airport. She cultivated Elderhostel (Road Scholar) programs in Santa Paula with its co-founder, Marty Knowlton, served on the Santa Clara Valley Hospice Board, and for many years led home tours for their annual fundraiser. She was honored by Santa Paula's Women of History, taught Parent Effectiveness Training, coached by its founder, Thomas Gordon, was a driving force in Tale-Spinners, a group that showcases Ventura figures of historical note, and with her late husband was a member of the Friends of Blanchard Library. Neighbors will remember her generous open swim time when she welcomed any and all to enjoy her backyard pool when the flag is out. She was a gracious host, delighted in thoughtful conversations, and loved making connections between friends in her vast local, national, and international circle. Her grace and love, outreach and involvement, hospitality and friendship, dedication and inexhaustible energy have left a mark that will continue to reverberate around the world.

Molly remained an active Santa Paula citizen until 2012 when she moved to the Ventura Townhouse, then to Kerman to be near son Walter (and wife Connie), and spent her last months with daughters Anne and Mim in Santa Monica. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends sharing prayers, songs, and happy reminiscences. She wanted all to know this passage from the Baháí Writings: I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Molly was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charlton Russell King, in 2006, and is survived by her younger sister Jane Skinner Isley (Max) of Durham, NC and their four sons; her children Margaret King (Jamie OBoyle) of Philadelphia, PA; Anne (Saeed) Sadeghpour of Santa Monica, CA; Walter (Connie) King of Kerman, CA; Nancy King of Ventura, CA; and Mim King (Adam Tosh) of Saint Paul, MN; as well as her eight grandchildren Nura, Amin, Russell, Soraya, and Nadia Sadeghpour, Meredith King Holkeboer, Melanie King Dollie, Adam King, and her two great-grandchildren Quinne Holkeboer and Zisou King Dollie.

Her family invite friends to share in Mollys life celebration on , 3 from 2:00-5:00pm, program at 3:00, at the California Oil Museum, 1001 E Main St, Santa Paula. Please consider making a donation in continued...
