Obituary: On the evening of 3rd, a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away following a short, but intense battle with an aggressive and unrelenting cancer. Simon passed away at his home with his family and siblings by his side. Born in Jerusalem in 1945, Simon immigrated with his parents in 1950 to the United States, and after years in New York and Detroit, the family moved to San Diego in 1959. graduating from Escondido High School in 1963, Simon attended San Diego State where he received his Bachelor of Science in biology which was followed by a Master’s degree in biochemistry. In , 1968, he married his college sweetheart, Gloria Tovar Bareno and was blessed with two daughters, Shana and Dee, who brought him the joy of three grandchildren. many years working at the Salk Institute and at CalBioChem, Simon founded Scripps Laboratories, Inc., in 1984, a successful biochemical company. Simon remained its CEO until his cancer diagnosis in , 2015. Scripps Laboratories is a bulk manufacturer of high quality proteins and immunoreagents for the diagnostic industry and research community. Simon’s expertise, experience, and commitment to producing the best product available led his company to become one of the world’s premier providers of proteins and immunoreagents, with offices in San Diego and Tokyo, Japan. Simon only has friends – he had the ability to charm all he met with his wit, sense of humor, intelligence, and compassionate heart. Simon was humble and quietly generous to a fault, leaving many lives enriched and persons filled with admiration and a sense of gratitude for having known him. Obituary: Rosita Minerva Khoury 17, 1925 - 25, 2016 Rosita Khoury was born on 17, 1925, to Teofilo (Toufic) Azzam and Souraya Rezek, in San Francisco Demacoris, a city in the Dominican Republic. Rosita lost her father at an early age of 2, and her mother Souraya left the Dominican Republic to join her brothers in Haifa, where Rosita grew up among her brothers Oscar and Jamil. Rosita married Anesty Khoury in Haifa in 1947 and in 1948, together with her husband Anesty had to relocate to Lebanon due to the 1948 Israeli war and re-established a new home away from home. Rosita, with four children on her side, managed to maintain engagement and leadership with the Womens Auxiliary of the American University of Beirut and the YMCA. Rosita was a grand lady. Very hospitable and a great cook. She pampered all visitors and earned the accolade of the head of the five star Khoury residence. The civil war in Lebanon was very difficult on Rosita, it brought back terror, fear and difficult days and marked the loss of the love of her life. She kept the family together and eventually moved on to Chula Vista to enjoy her grandchildren. were her pride and joy and erased all the scars the wars left. Rosita was blessed with a loving family, and a comfortable life. She is survived by her children Minerva, George, Sylvia and Oscar, her grandchildren, her great grandchild and her brothers Oscar and Jamil |

Obituary: (Passed away early Morning at 2:45AM on 11, 2015) In the year 1932, Michel Hanna Khoury was born in Jerusalem, the beloved holy land. He was the eldest son of 13 children. Circumstances were such that he took on the responsibility of helping his father provide for the whole family at the age of 13 years old. At age 25, Michel got married to his dream girl Siham Copti, whom he was chasing after for a few years and went to every extreme to make sure that she does not get married to someone else. In 1957, on 13, he married Siham in Kuwait, where she lived at the time with her parents. Siham would become the woman who would stand by his side through all of lifes challenges for 58 romantic years. One year later Doris was born in Kuwait. A few months after her birth, Michel's work took him to Tripoli Libya, where 3 years after that, they had Johnny. Michel had the highest position within the Albert Abela International Group, a company providing catering and life support services in oil fields and military bases. As the General Manager, he was responsible for taking care of the American Air-Force base and overseeing the majority of their needs, with more than 4,500 employees under his care. In the year 1969, Michel moved to Lebanon where Roger was born 4 years later in 1973. There he took it upon himself to open a successful manufacturing business, exporting products to the Arabian gulf in the Middle East. In of 1975 after the civil war started in Lebanon, and as the war escalated, Michel was forced to flee from his home in Lebanon and move to Kuwait. In 1977, Doris came to California to attend to college. Eventually Michel moved the family to Los Angeles California where his sister Cossette and Husband Dr. Issa Shamonki lived. During this time, Johnny was still living in England in a boarding school. Unfortunately, Michel had to leave everything behind in Lebanon which was lost during the war. A few years later, Johnny joined the family in California after finishing his education in England and a short time in Canada. Michel was such a loving, committed and generous man who loved to travel and enjoyed life to the max. He enjoyed surprising his family with vacation trips and planned well for everything. He had a very warm heart filled with so much love which he poured among his family and friends. He did whatever it took to take care of everyone who was dear to him. There were moments in his life where he even risked his own wellbeing and safety to help others who were threatened by war and racial as well as religious discrimination. This reflected his Christian love and sacrifice for not only his family but his neighbor as well, which speaks volumes about his own righteous character as a human being created in the image and likeness of God. Almost 4 years ago, unfortunately Michel was pressured into taking cholesterol medication he didn't need, simply because of his age, as a preventative according to his cardiologist. That was when his health started taking a backward step from the side effects of that medication, causing him to lose most of his muscle strength which became damaged. Compounded by his lack of exercise and resistance to performing any regular physical activity, he quickly developed osteoporosis which became more and more severe over this time. This ultimately put him at high risk for aspiration which can lead to pneumonia. Pneumonia was in fact the final cause of his passing. However, Gods loving mercy was on him and his family during the final moments of his life, as he did not suffer, but fell asleep peacefully. The good Lord granted him the ability to have communion a day before through a timely and loving visit from Fr. George Ajalat. Furthermore, Michel was also able to see all of his children, grandchildren, his sister and her family as well as some of his very near loved ones whom he considered family during his last day with us. Its important to note that Michels sense of humor was so vivid , that it was experienced by everyone around him until the last day of his life. There were so many funny incidents in Michel's life, but one stands out in his family's mind from a fairly recent physical therapy visit. One day when Michel was at the chiropractor, he was sitting on an exercise machine and was supposed to stretch down trying to touch his socks with his fingers. a lot of effort he finally touched one sock. The doctor told him: "So Michel, now you know what to do next time, right? Michel replied: "Yes, of course I know, next time I will wear LONGER socks." God bless Michel's soul and may he rest in peace and his memory be eternal. |

Obituary: David George Khoury passed away in his home on , 18. He was born in Gaza, Palestine on 23, 1943, the youngest child of George and Salwa Khoury. The family moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where David graduated from high school. He then worked at a Christian radio station in Beirut and in Saudi Arabia teaching English. In 1967 he moved to Stockton to attend college. While at the university, he met Judy Most. their first date, he told his friends this is the woman he was going to marry. David and Judy had just celebrated their thirty-ninth year of marriage. completing his teachers credential program at UOP, he taught for three years at Presentation Elementary School. He then moved to St. Marys High School where he taught biology and Advanced Placement biology for thirty years. He valued staying on top of the latest discoveries and techniques and passing them on to his students. He coached the science bowl team, science Olympiad team for many years, and the high school soccer team in the early stages. He loved and enjoyed visits with his siblings and many cousins, but he relished his role as Dad. David and Judy were blessed with a wonderful son, Jason in 1976; that was the same year he was sworn in as a citizen of the United States. Those two events established his often heard chant, Life is Good! His blessings were extended in 1979, when his adored daughter, Jamie was born. Watching and delighting in his childrens activities and accomplishments was such an honor and joy for him. As their children matured and finished college, David and Judy began to enjoy more travel and hobbies. David took up and loved golfing with family and friends and rooting for the Stockton Thunder and Ports and the UOP basketball teams. Jason married Kimberly Corrao in 2004, which extended their family not just with a new daughter, but the entire Corrao family. were blessed with their son Justin in 2008, who was the source of endless joy to his grandfather, or Jedo. In of this year their second son Devin was born and quickly worked his baby magic on Jedo again. Jamie married Andrew Cannon in 2007, and again not only did he become a son but brought the Cannon family into their lives. On 9 of this year, Jamie gave birth to the newest blessing, baby Tyler David Cannon. David met his newest grandson by pictures with delight. David was the youngest of seven children and loved spending time with his siblings and their families, including Clemence Sayegh, Dr. Michel Khoury, Yvonne Khouri, Sumaya Fanous, Aida Salameh, and Gabriel Khoury. David was a fun loving friend to many. He was a dedicated, funny teacher to his colleagues and students. He was a loving, joking brother, cousin, and uncle to the Khoury, Bahou, and Jammal families. He was a loving, proud father and grandfather. And he was the loving, devoted husband and best friend to his wife. He will be deeply missed. The family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the David G. Khoury Scholarship Fund at St. Marys High School. A Visitation will be held on , 23, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
