Obituary: Mary Jane Klein (née Guissinger) passed away quietly in the presence of her loving daughters on 6th, 2014, at her home in Houston, Texas.

Our darling mother lived her life well. She was always a kind, caring woman, one of the best! She adored her family, friends, and caregivers, and always had a sunny smile for everyone. She made each of us feel as though we were the one person she had been waiting for when we arrived!

Mom celebrated her 89th birthday in style with family and friends just a few weeks before her death. Thankfully, she did not suffer much, and she always kept her wonderful sense of humor. Mama taught us excellent life lessons, how to live with love and grace and to treat people with dignity. Making way for her in heaven were her mother, Mary Elizabeth Pearce Guissinger, father, John Adams Guissinger, husband, Carroll Anthony St. Martin, husband, Donald Davis Klein, and brothers John, Edward, and Roger Guissinger. Surviving Mary are her sister Marcia Moser, and her three daughters: Carol Klein Fuquay (John) of Milton, West Virginia, Cindy McWhorter (Ron) of Spring, Texas, Debby Norausky (Gary) of San Diego, California, and their families; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Kelly McWhorter Hill (Bryan), Sean McWhorter, Alex Kessinger, and Noah Klein.

Mary received her B.S. degree in Economics from Louisiana State University. She was an Air Force wife, which made her responsible for orchestrating the familys frequent moves to faraway places, including England, Japan, Hawaii, and Denmark. She lived in Universal City, Texas for more than thirty years, often meeting up with old friends who moved to or passed through the local military bases. Mary had a strong faith in our Lord, and called Windcrest United Methodist her church home. Family was all-important to Mama. Grandchildren and great grandchildren loved visiting their Nani often, especially when the family gathered at her home at Easter time and with extended family at Pearce reunions.

A celebration of life service for Mary Jane Klein will be held at Klein United Methodist Church, 5920 FM 2920, Spring, TX, 77388 on , 1, 2014, at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow at the McWhorter home. Maps will be provided at the service.

The family will have a reception for the wonderful caregivers and residents of Brookdale Place Cypress Station, 303 Lantern Bend, Houston, TX, 77090 on , 2, 2014, at 1:00 pm. This will be held in the creamery and main living room, and everyone is welcome to visit.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Brookdale Christmas fund for our wonderful second family, who took such loving care of Mom. These funds are used to provide gifts for all employees that touched Moms life and ours. To contribute, you may send a check written to Brookdale Cypress Station, and write on the memo of the check that it is for the Christmas fund. Please include a note in the envelope that says you are honoring Mary Klein. We want to be sure we thank everyone. Mail the check to Brookdale Cypress Station, 303 Lantern Bend, Houston, TX, 77090, to the attention of Hayli Franke. Memorial sites have also been set up in the name of Mary Jane Klein with two of her favorite charities: the Alzheimers Association, www.alz.org and the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
