Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Chad was born 25, 1978, in Wurzburg, Germany, to Ken and Liz Kirby of Grand Prairie, who will miss his easy smile and loving hugs. He loved his daughter, Nicole, of Fritch more than anything in the world. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Kaye Kirby. Obituary: The world sadly lost a member of the Greatest Generation, Carlos Leland Kirby, Jr. born 11/7/1914 passed away on 6/9/2017 from natural causes at the age of 102 1/2 years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Helon, son Steve Kirby, grandson Gerald Mardis Jr, & his wife Angie, brother Bland and sister Janell. He is survived by his daughter Kay McCarter and husband Nelson, sons Don, Doug and wife Angela, grandchildren Elaine Duffy and husband, Tim, Graham Kirby and wife Ann, Aaron Kirby, Brett Kirby and Jenna Kirby. Great-grandchildren TJ Duffy, Danielle Duffy and Nicole Duffy. Great-great grandchildren Dorian Kirby, Rory Haring and Kane Lanman. Brothers Billy Kirby, Ray Kirby and daughter-in-law Becky Moe. He had several names: Dad, Grandaddy, Kirby or CL and grew up the son of a farmer in Osage, Texas and attended Howard Payne University. In 1939, he married the love of his life, Helon Post Chamlee. He joined the Navy during WWII and earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served as a member of the SACO Intelligence agency. the war he went back to college graduating from Texas A & M Fightin Texas Aggie class of 1948. That same year he joined and completed the FBI training under J Edgar Hoover. While in the FBI he worked in several locations and settled in Texas City in 1962 where he served as Agent in Charge of Galveston until his retirement in 1972. He called dinner groceries, people birddog when he couldn remember their name, loved anything German chocolate, lasagna, chewing tobacco and Aggie football. Gigem in Heaven!! The family will hold a private service on at Forest Park East, League City, TX where he will join his beloved Helon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in His name to your favorite charity. |

Obituary: Billy Jack Kirby was born in Terrell, Texas on 11th, 1927. His father was Clinton Thomas Kirby and his mother was Willie S. Brazell. He lost both parents at a young age. He was seven years old when his father was killed in a motor accident, and eleven years of age when his Mother passed away. He spend the next few years living with his older sisters until he joined the army in 1946. He spend the next twenty years in the US Army traveling the world serving his country. He was stationed in many countries and experienced a variety of cultures. His many stations included time served in the USA, French Morocco, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Korea as well as Japan and stop overs in exotic locales such as the Wake Islands and Guam. While stationed in Germany he met Christa and they had a relationship that lasted several years. had a son. Billy Jack Kirby whom they referred to as Jacky. His Military travels took him around the world several times and in 1965, he decided to prepare for civilian life. In of 1965, together with his son he returned to Scurry, Texas where they lived on a farm with his sister Dorothy and her husband Charles “Toots” Wampler for four years. In of 1966 he retired from the Military after twenty years. A short time later he began a twenty year second career with the Federal Reserve Bank as a security guard. He lived in El Paso and Dallas during those Years. He married Brookie Gregory Bays and they lived in Flint, Texas until her passing in 2004. that he moved to Arlington Texas where he lived until he moved into the Brookdale nursing home due to his failing health in 2014. He was very proud of his grandkids and his great grandkids. He never failed to comment on them. His proudest achievement was his military service. Those who preceded him are his parents, wife Brookie Gregory Bays Kirby, special thoughts for Christa A. Guethlein; siblings: Clinton Thomas Kirby, Raymond D. Usleton, Dorothy (Kirby) Wampler, Minnie Lee (Kirby) Pearman, Ovie Usleton and Beatrice (Kirby) Byrd. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Billy (Jacky) Kirby and wife Kay; grandchildren John Michael Kirby and wife Carolyn and Christina Maree Kirby; great grandchildren Christian Arnold, Justin Kirby, Kennedy Kirby and Logan Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Final memorial and graveside service for my Mr.Kirby Sr. is planned for , 26, at 1 pm. Billy's ashes will be placed in their final resting place in FOX cemetery located in Rand ,Texas., A place of quiet and peace out in the country that he loved very much. In accordance with his wishes it will be a small affair with only close family members in attendance.Thank you for all the support and well wishes. Don't worry about flowers. Billy would tell you to take your kids and grandkids out to lunch and tell them :" Ya'll get what you want! I'm paying today" ! Just make sure it's one of those "all you can eat" places because he always wanted to get his money's worth !! |

Obituary: Bettye Gilbert Kirby, a longtime resident of Houston, Texas died , May 14, 2015. Bettye was born 9, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Huj Rush and Lina Lewis Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Henrietta Gilbert Walker, and brother William Lewis Gilbert. She graduated from C. E. Byrd High School and Norton Business , both in Shreveport. Bettye is survived by her husband of 62 years Howard Ellis Kirby, Jr. of Houston, son Jason Ellis Kirby of Springtown, Texas, daughter Allison Gilbert Kirby of Houston, nephew Ben W. Walker, III and wife Stella of Shreveport, Louisiana, and niece Charlotte Gilbert Walker of Durham, North Carolina. Bettye and Howard were married 31, 1953 and began their life together in Shreveport. In of that same year, Howard was ordered to active duty in the United States Air Force. During his five years of active service, Bettye enjoyed the hobby of ceramics at the base hobby shops, and serving as a Red Cross Gray Lady at the base hospital. At the end of Howards tour of duty, they returned to Shreveport where Howard resumed his job at Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. In of 1966, they moved to Houston when Howard was transferred to their Houston office. Bettye became an active volunteer at the newly opened Briarwood School from 1967 to 1974 and then joined the staff as Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1985. retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at her church, Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, where she has been a member since moving to Houston. She was always quick to respond to any call. She has served on various committees - Teller, Dove Tales, Reception, Usher and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She had for many years been responsible for sending memorial cards for both the Memorial and Endowment Funds and had helped in the financial office. Her church and church family were very important to her. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire, Houston, TX 77024 on , May 22, 2015 with The Rev. Joshua T. Condon presiding. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to The Memorial Fund of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Church Parish Hall. |
