Obituary: Louanna Mae Howard King was born on 19, 1933 in Shamrock, TX to Kermit Howard and Seidel Copeland Howard. She had an identical twin sister, Joanna Rae Howard Young. She also had an older sister, Billie "Bibi" Howard Hollingsworth and younger brother, Dean Howard. Louan grew up on a cotton farm and worked along with the rest of the family picking cotton. She and her sisters would save up the money they earned to buy clothes. In high school, she and Joan were cheerleaders. When she was sixteen, she met L.D. "Jerry" King. fell in love and were married in of 1951. In 1952, they welcomed their first son, Kermit Frederick King, or "Freddie" as he was known. In 1954, daughter Jerri Lynn King was welcomed to the family. Louan and Jerry's family was complete in 1956, when Philip Duane King was born. Many of the their early years together were spent moving state to state following work in the construction industry. enjoyed this time traveling all over the country as a family. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Louan and Jerry owned and operated 2 different Dairy Marts in Shamrock. Though they loved developing these successful businesses in their hometown, they missed the family time together. To allow them to focus on the children and their lives together they returned to construction work, adding more states to the list of places they had lived. In 1965, Jerry accepted a job at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. This led to the family's final move to settle in Hurst. Louan took a job as a bookkeeper for Keetch Metal Works, and the children enrolled in school, made friends and enjoyed being close to extended family. As the children grew up and moved out, Jerry and Louan continued to enjoy traveling. Las Vegas, cruises and trips in the RV were a few of their favorites. Many special memories were made with family at the deer lease each fall and the lake each summer. retirement, they were finally able to really go as they pleased. For several summers they packed up the RV and headed to New Mexico and Colorado to escape the Texas heat. Louan would treasure these times after Jerry was gone. Louan and Jerry were completely devoted to their children, grand children, siblings, parents, nieces and nephews. instilled a very strong sense of family into each of their children and grandchildren. The words "true love" could not describe these two more perfectly. sincerely believed they should be together at all times. The love and passion they shared was obvious to anyone who knew them. It was a beautiful example to their children and grandchildren of what marriage is intended to be: absolute love, respect, romance and loyalty. Jerry passed away in 1995. Louan spent most of the last 20 years living in North Richland Hills. For 12 years she lived side by side to daughter, Jerri Lynn, and her family. The dedication of Jerri Lynn to her mother allowed Louan to remain in her home until the very end. This was such a blessing to both of them. Louan felt great joy in welcoming new members to her family. New marriages were celebrated, and she made each new spouse feel like they were meant to be a part of the family. The sweet, gentle smile on her face each time she held a new great-grandchild for the first time was priceless. Louan was beautiful inside and out. She was the most glamorous woman to ever love the outdoors. She liked to fish, go for walks, sit by a campfire, but all with her hair fixed and her lipstick on (and probably jewelry to pull it all together). She loved to laugh and had the sweetest smile. She was kind to all and never one to judge. Her heart was big, and there was never anyone more fair. All of her children and grandchildren knew they were not just loved, but treasured. Louan is survived by her son Fred King and his wife Gail, daughter Jerri Lynn Stage and her husband Steve, son Phil King and his wife Cathy. Grandchildren Julie Fredericksen and her husband Chad, Derick King and his wife Valarie, Monica Scarborough and her husband Jason, Cassie Stage and fiancée Rusty Hale, Philip King, Cara Stage, Kiley King and Jessi King. Great grandchildren Braelyn, Ashton, Luke, Ella, Elena, Hadlee and Holden. Twin sister Joan Young. Numerous nieces and nephews, brother in-laws and sister in-laws. Louan was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, granddaughter Amy, sister Billie Hollingsworth and brother Dean Howard |
