Obituary: Jerry Clyde Kent, 81, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on 18, 2015. He was born in Robinson, Illinois on 28, 1934. Jerry graduated from Eastern New Mexico University where he received his Masters of Business Administration. He was married to Annette Gasaway on 30, 1955. Jerry had a career in the Oil Field with Dresser Industries. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and The Piney Wood Model A Club. He had a passion for antique cars and spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Annette Kent; daughter, Tracy Martin and son-in-law Jimmy; son, Russell Kent and daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren, Douglass and Travis Kent; Sister, Judy Martinez. Obituary: JANET WILLBURN KENT Janet Willburn Kent passed away on 20, 2015 at her home in Victoria, TX in the company of dear friends. Janet was born to John A. Willburn and Marguerite Owens Willburn on 7, 1949 in Pueblo, CO. Growing up in Las Animas, CO, Janet attended the Presbyterian Church and completed her K-12 education, graduating in l967. She enrolled at Adams State in Alamosa, CO, majoring in education and received her BA degree in 1972. She married John Kent in l969 while he was serving in the army in Viet Nam. Janet taught school in Moffatt, CO awaiting his discharge. In 1974 they lost a child at birth. Several years later the couple divorced. Janet enrolled at Denver University receiving her MA degree in library science and was employed by the public library in Victoria, TX. several years she moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where she taught in a country school and worked in a local bookstore. She enrolled in Arkansas State University updating her credentials. the death of her mother she worked in Walsh, CO for three years as their school librarian before moving to Sidney, NE where she worked at the Book Corner until she was hired as director of the Sidney Public Library. a few years in that position she returned to Victoria, TX and the library and her friends in Texas. Janet retired in 2014. Janet loved to read and was always searching for new authors and good reads she could share with family and friends. She was happiest when she could help others become avid readers and enjoyed guiding their selections through the variety of authors. Janet Kent was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Maynard, a nephew, Edward, and her child. She is survived by a sister, Peggy (Ronald) Morehead of Blytheville, Arkansas; a brother, Bill (Jean) Willburn of Sidney, NE and eleven nieces and nephews. Janet chose cremation and burial will be at Crestone, CO at a later date. Memorials may be given to the local chapter of DAR, the Hospice of Victoria, or Friends of the Library in Victoria, TX. Obituary: Jan Pinkney Kent, born to Otto O. and Helen Wilson Kent on May 17, 1934, went to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on 1, 2015. high school, Jan joined the US Naval Reserve and served for several years. He was a graduate of Tyler High School, Stephen F. Austin University, and the University of Arkansas. He was a language professor of Spanish, English, and French at Texas A&M University and Tyler Junior . Jan was an active ham radio operator and a strict vegan. He was a charter member of the Eat y Tyler group, and made many close friends there. He was a member of Grace Community Church of Tyler for over 35 years. Jan was very family oriented and for the last ten years he accomplished organizing the Hudson family reunion, which had an annual attendance of approximately 75 people. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Sydney Kent Pate and Linda Ruth Kent. Survivors include a sister, Kay Kent Blow of Tyler; a brother Phil (Chiemi) Kent of Austin; nephews, Steve (Lori) Blow of Dallas, Craig (Jan) Blow of Aubrey, Fred (Cynthia) Pate of Tyler, and Jimmy Kent of Dallas; nieces, Nina Blow Rochelle of Tyler, Ginger Pate South of Tyler, and Linda (Dustin) Kent Bennett of Benbrook; and many great-nephews and great-nieces. Jan was a modest, humble man of few words, but he had a great sense of humor. He loved sports on TV, especially major league baseball and college football. He lived a frugal lifestyle, but was very generous to others. He was loved by friends and family and will be greatly missed. In accordance with his wishes, there will be a private family burial at the Hudson Family . Lloyd James is in charge of arrangements. |

Obituary: KENT On morning, James Hamilton Kent died peacefully at home in the company of his beloved wife, Priscilla, as he had wished. His wit and cheer will be missed by those who loved him while his professional accomplishments continue to touch the lives of travelers he never met. Born in Salina, Kansas, to Roy and Edith Lantz, Jim was Captain of the Corps of Cadets at the Wentworth Military Academy of Lexington, Missouri. Jims passion for the business of service propelled him to the University of Denver, School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. Following graduation, Jim worked at the Denver hotel owned by his stepfather, Rex Kent, whose name he had taken. service in the Army, in which he held the rank of Second Lieutenant, Jim was hired by Westin International Hotels as the manager of the historic Cosmopolitan Hotel in Denver. Years of service to Westin led to being named the opening manager for the Houston Oaks Hotel at the Galleria, the citys first five-star, five-diamond property. It was there that he met his wife, Priscilla. Recruited to lead the companys twenty-two Mexican properties, Jim served as executive in charge of Westins Camino Real brand, and oversaw the construction and operation of properties in Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Mexico City. Returning to the United States, Jim was named President of United Airlines Food Services, and an Executive Vice President of United Airlines, both owned by UAL, Inc., the parent company of Westin. The Four Seasons chain subsequently tapped Jim to conceive of and manage its Houston, Texas property, and he took the title of Vice President for the state. The 21 Club then recruited Jim to create the companys boutique hotel division, leading to the opening of The Mansion on Turtle Creek, in Dallas, The Remington, in Houston, and the elevation of La Mansion in San Antonio to a world-class hotel property. Jim is survived by his wife, Priscilla Kent, stepson, Lindsay A. Martin, his wife Gillian, and their daughters, Dale and Lark, of San Antonio, along with his daughter, Kim ODonnell, her husband Pat, grandchildren, Chad and Megan, all of Houston, and son Bryan Kent of Austin. His family and friends will continue to treasure his ability to make each feel as a special guest in his company. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on 17 at Porter Loring Mortuary 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas.
