Obituary: Vivian P. Kleinsmith, 80, Kutztown, passed away Nov. 21, 2009, at the Reading Hospital. She was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Reading, the daughter of the late Robert C. and Ivy (Clark) McCahan. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Kleinsmith of Kutztown; her grand-daughters Abigail and Gretchen Kleinsmith; and her loving companion, Maddie, whom she adopted earlier this year. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Kleinsmith, who passed away Feb. 7, 2009, and a son, Keith Kleinsmith, who was formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y. Obituary: Margaret Hafer (Rittenhouse) Kleinsmith, 94, of The Villages, Fla, formerly of Exeter Twp., passed away quietly surrounded by family on , May 17, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Edwin Lincoln Kleinsmith. The couple married in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading on 16, 1946. Sadly, Edwin passed away 16, 2016, leaving Margaret heartbroken. Born on 30, 1923 in Exeter Twp., Margaret was a daughter of the late Samuel and Fay (Hafer) Rittenhouse. She was a 1941 graduate of Mount Penn High School. She was employed with Mount Penn Trust Co. as a teller for seven years before starting her new life as a mother. She was a faithful member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Reiffton for several years. Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her family tells of her excellent Shoofly Pie. Margaret also enjoyed card games and taking trips to the Casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Surviving are three daughters: Dorothy A. (Kleinsmith) Watkins and her companion, Martin Heaxt of Viera Fla, Karen M. (Kleinsmith) Shaak and her husband, Harry of The Villages, Fla and Janet L. (Kleinsmith) Stankard and her husband, Thomas of The Villages, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two siblings: Kathryn Hafer (Rittenhouse) Mast of Exeter Twp. and Gene William Bill Rittenhouse of Honolulu, HI. In addition to her parents and her husband, Edwin; Margaret is predeceased by two brothers: Richard and Stuart Rittenhouse. A Memorial Service for Margaret will be 11am on , 16, 2017 in Aumans Inc. , 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home at 10am. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her sweetheart, Edwin in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Obituary: Edwin Lincoln Kleinsmith, 94, of Cumru Twp., formerly of Exeter Twp., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on , 16, 2016. He was the loving husband of Margaret Hafer (Rittenhouse) Kleinsmith. The couple shared 70 years of marriage on 16, 2016. Born on 24, 1921, in Exeter Twp., Edwin was a son of the late Chester F. and Louisa L. (Hafer) Kleinsmith. Edwin was a U.S. Army veteran and served proudly during WWII and was involved with the Battle of the Bulge. Stateside, he was employed for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator with DB Diefenderfer in St. Lawrence. While working there full time, he also worked part time at the former Laurel Lanes Bowling Alley. He was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and the IUOE Local 542. Edwin was a huge fan of the Phillies and he also enjoyed the Eagles too. He was an avid counted cross stitcher and made gifts for his family and for veterans out of the creations he made with the cross stitching. He liked to read the newspaper and to travel to Florida to see his daughters. In addition to his wife, Margaret, three daughters survive: Dorothy A. (Kleinsmith) Watkins and her partner, Martin Heaxt, of Viera, Fla.; Karen M. (Klensmith) Shaak and her husband, Harry, of Exeter Twp.; and Janet L. (Kleinsmith) Stankard and her husband, Thomas, of The Villages, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Claude Kleinsmith, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Edwin is predeceased by his siblings: Raymond, Robert, J. Harvey and Clarence Kleinsmith and Margaret (Kleinsmith) Kunkleman. A Memorial Service for Edwin will be , 21, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. in Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606.
