He served there until May 1960 when was relieved from active duty as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist on the Honest John Missile, and he and his young family moved back to OKC. Harry was then assigned as a Reserve officer to XIX Corps Artillery Reserve Unit where he felt it an honor and a privilege to have served as Adjutant to the always stalwart Brigadier General Denver W. Meacham, a man of loyalty, integrity, and sacrifice. Harry served in this post until 1968, when the Department of Defense disbanded the XIX Corps Artillery, and he consequently resigned his commission as a Major in the United States Army Artillery. He remained a resolute patriot throughout his life. A third-generation architect, Harry carried on that family tradition and began working for Benham-Blair &Affiliates, Inc., now The Benham Companies, in 1961. Testimony from his colleagues reflect that to them, Harry was larger than life, a valued mentor, an exceptional individual, respectful of others, kind, one-of-a-kind, a competitive Bridge player, a man of loyalty and leadership, one who suffered fools lightly, but was himself a man of wit and a silver-tongued devil. Our dear Harry leaves a remarkable legacy to his family, friends, and generations to come. His family will always feel his love for us, his loyalty to us, and his pride in his heritage.
