Obituary: La Veta Kindred went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 29, 2016 in Oklahoma City. She was born La Veta Louise Choplin on 23, 1922 in Butler Oklahoma to the union of Paul and Frankie (Miller) Choplin. Her father worked on the railroad and he mother was a Nazarene Preacher. La Veta was the second of four children. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Willie D. Sullivan, her daughter Sharon and 3 sisters; Ruth, Bonita and Ana Mae. La Vetas early childhood was spent in the Oklahoma panhandle before coming to Bethany in 1932. She met Willie D. Sullivan in Norman in 1941 and they were married and had 2 children; Sharon and Bob. La Veta worked for the Putnam City School system beginning in the 1957 and retired in 1995. La Veta was married to Joe Kindred and they were lifelong residents of Bethany. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany all of her life and she and Joe were active in the church. La Veta loved to cook and would spend hours knitting, tatting, painting and sewing clothes. She and her sister Ruth would travel with Joe and Ruths husband T.J across the country in a fifth wheel trailer. We have many great memories of La Vetas travel stories and her great meals at holidays. Her pecan and cherry pies were wonderful. La Veta is survived by her husband Joe, her son Bob, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. La Vetas family wished to thank the incredible staff at Grace Living in Bethany and Good Shepard Hospice Service for their incredible care and support through the end of La Vetas life Journey. Visitation will be held , 3, 2016 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. with Service on , 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. both at Bill Merritt Service 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in La Vetas name to the Alzheimers Association Oklahoma Chapter 2123 N. Classen Blvd. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106. |

Obituary: Our Dad was a small town guy who loved his family and was always active in the community. He grew up in Blanchard and Snyder, Oklahoma. He worked hard all his life; starting at an early age picking and hoeing cotton with his sisters, Faye and Louise. He loved farming, along with training and riding horses. He told us growing up that he took a job in one year; working for a neighbor. He was hired at $10 a month since there wouldn be much to do in and . He would then be raised to $15 a month starting in . The crew worked every day in and . When rolled around, there was a big snow storm and they didn work for two weeks, but he still received his $15 for the month. He would keep $5 every month and send $10 home to his parents. He thought he was living high on $5 for a month. In his younger life, he held various jobs. You could say he was a jack of all trades; school bus driver, hauling milk to the city and farming, to name a few, all the while working a horse to plow or rope or cut cattle. He married and moved to Oklahoma City. He took a temporary job at Bendix Air Brakes and retired 30 years later. He belonged to the Yukon Round-Up club where he enjoyed the parades, rodeos, and riding his horses; Shorty and Tom. retiring, he continued to work brush hogging with his tractor. He also began doing dirt work for contractors until he was unable to work. Our Dad was a pillar in his family and well loved by all. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and sisters; 2 wives, Dorothy and Laveta. He is survived by his 3 children; Terri of Sperry, OK Sherri of Bethany, OK, Jerry and wife, Jean of Oklahoma City; his sister, Louise Beeson of Cache, OK; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on , 26, 2017, at Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel. Burial to follow at Blanchard . under the direction of Bill Merritt Service, Bethany, OK. |
