Obituary: Lura M. “Sue†Kantner, 96, of Wapakoneta died at 9:50 a.m. 17, 2014 at St. Rita’s Medical , Lima. She was born on 15, 1918 in Anna, OH to J.W. & Emma (Zwiebel) Heiland who preceded her in death. On 13, 1937 she married Eugene “Gene†Kantner and he passed away on 11, 1980. She is survived by two children; Emma Lou (Ken) Coleman of Wapakoneta, Donald R. (JoAnn) Kantner of Sanborn, NY, a daughter-in-law Carlene (Ken) Koch of Wapakoneta, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, 3 sisters Alvina Brandt, Donna Short, Hilda (Al) Nance and many nieces and nephews scattered all over the U.S.A. She was preceded in death by 2 children; Sharon JoAnn Kantner and Fritz Kantner, brothers, sisters and in-laws, Roy (Frieda) Heiland, Clarence (Louise) Heiland, Wilbur (Eileen) Heiland, Donald Brandt, Gordon Short, Norma (Finkenbine) Reed, Julia (Ray) Biddle, and grandsons Dennis and Cliff Jr. Butler. Lura was a cafeteria manager and head cook at United Local School, St. Johns for 5 years. She also worked as an assistant manager at Wright’s 5 & 10 Store, rental manager at Miller’s Textile and secretary and treasurer of Kantner Plumbing & Heating for 25 years. She was also a 4-H leader, member of St. Paul U.C.C., Wapakoneta and a volunteer at Northridge School. Her hobbies were knitting and quilting which she loved. She made many lap robes and Afghans which she gave away because she loved doing it. She also enjoyed playing card and baking cinnamon rolls which she also gave away to her friends. She especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, family and friends. Memorial services will begin at 11:00 a.m. 21, 2014 at Schlosser & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Becky will be officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn . Obituary: KANTNER, Louise R., age 94, of Dayton, passed away on , 8, 2014 at Walnut Creek . Louise was born on 25, 1920 in Wapakoneta, OH to the late George and Ruth (Myers) Kantner. She retired from NCR where she worked in the payroll department. Following her retirement, Louise and her mother made custom costumes and Santa suits and also collected and restored dolls. She was an 80-year member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. Louise is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret OHara and nephew, Larry OHara. She is survived by her cousin, Carol Gerhard; great niece and nephews, Cheryl, Ron, and Michael; her cat and lap buddy, Happy; close friend, Jackie Watkins; companion and caregiver, Kathy Stanze; and numerous other cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on , 13, 2014 at Routsong , 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. Family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn in Wapakoneta. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 Nicholas Road, Dayton, OH 45417 or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. On 2, 1944 she married Luther R. Kantner and he passed away on 25, 2006. She is survived by a son; Dean (Betty) Kantner, a daughter Diane (Fred) Schlosser both of Wapakoneta, four grandchildren Connie (Chris) Case, Scott (Thia) Kantner, Brian (Jenn) Schlosser, and Debbie Schlosser all of Wapakoneta, 8 great-grandchildren Jared Fleck, Logan Kantner, Sarina Fleck, Johnathon Schlosser, Cathleen Case, Kaitlynne Kantner, Dusty Kantner, and Brody Schlosser, 3 step great-grandchildren Ben Case, Daniel Case, and Lucas Case,a brother Marvin Kuck, and a sister Marjorie Schindel. Charlyine was a 1942 graduate of New Knoxville High School.  She retired from the Wapakoneta City Schools after 30 years in food service.  She was a member of St. Paul U.C.C. in Wapakoneta.  She enjoyed sewing and crafts and was especially known for her pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. services are scheduled to begin at 10:30 A.M. 11, 2013 at Schlosser & Cremation Services.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn , Wapakoneta.  Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Kansa passed away peacefully on 4, at Beeghly Oaks at the age of 71, Betty was born May 5, 1945 in Youngstown the daughter of George and Helen (Anderson) Lape and was a lifelong area resident. She worked at Goodwill Industries as a Contract Helper for several years. Betty was a member of Wedgewood park Evangelical Congregation and enjoyed playing cards and word puzzles. Her husband George Kansa whom she married 9 1966, passed away 2, 1995. Betty leaves two children, Keith Kansa of Struthers and Amy Kansa and her companion Michael Fountin, of Youngtown, one granddaughter Amber Mae Kansa of Struthers, one great grandson Samuel, two sisters Naomi Marrow of Los Vegas, and Gladys Gelatt of New York, and her good friend Karen Snyder. Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Elenore Petory and Rhonda Jackson and two brothers Robert Lape and Robert Rorhbaugh. There were no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church in Bettys name. |
