Obituary: Leo Joseph Kuhn, 78, of Pineville, North Carolina, died peacefully in his home on , May 9th, 2015, after a struggle with cancer. Leo was born in Anthon, Iowa on 2, 1937, the second child of Laurence and Emma Kuhn (Schieuer). He grew up on a farm just outside of Kingsley, Iowa and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1955. Leo always had a passion for making models and reading Popular Mechanics. graduating, he pursued his interests and attended Creighton University in Nebraska for two years and then transferred to Iowa State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1962. graduation he moved to Endicott, NY where he worked for IBM as a cost engineer. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a 1st Lieutenant when discharged in 1965. He met his wife Judy in 1965, and they married a year later. had four children: Christine, Larry, Cindy, and Jeffrey. In 1972 Leo graduated from State University of New York-Binghamton with a Masters Degree in computer science. In the summer of 1979, they all moved to Charlotte, NC where Leo retired from IBM in 1993, after 31 years of service. In 1994, he began working for H&R Block where he earned his IRS Enrolled Agent status. Leo gave of his time and talents in various volunteer activities including coaching youth baseball, treasurer of Grace Methodist Athletic Association, serving as an usher and on the parish counsel at St. Ann Catholic Church, and serving on the school board for Charlotte Catholic High School. Through the years, Leo enjoyed gardening, model railroading, reading, and his pets. He also enjoyed trips back to Iowa for 4th of family gatherings. Leo is survived by wife of 48 years, Judy; four children and nine grandchildren - Christine Kuhn (Jack and Madeline), Charlotte, NC, Laurence Kuhn and Lynne (Justin, Ryan, Rachel, Kayla and David), Chesapeake, VA, Cynthia Kuhn, Concord, NC, and Jeffrey and Teri Kuhn (Henry and Jane), Durham, NC; seven siblings, Barbara Jakiela - Sylva, NC, Vincent Kuhn (Alana) - LeMars, IA, Pauline Kuhn (Westminster, SC), Janice Schacherer (Bob) - Esterville, IA, Margaret Brosey (Mike) - Oklahoma City, OK, Kathleen Tichy - Solon, IA, and Ralph Kuhn (Karla) - Grimes, IA; numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Emma Kuhn (Schieuer). His family will greet friends on , May 13th, from 6-8 p.m. at McEwen-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, in Charlotte. Obituary: God needed another angel and early in the morning of 17, 2016, Jo Lynn Baker Kuhn entered into Heavens gates. Wrestling with diabetes and then dementia for the past several years left a toll on Jo Lynn. She lived the life of someone who was principled, unselfishly caring, and dedicated to her family and friends. Jo Lynn was born on 11, 1940 in Harnett to Walter J. and Elizabeth Larue Baker. She graduated from High Point Central High School. She was retired from Swaim Metals in High Point. Jo Lynn was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time at the lake, and traveling. She often said that her two sons were the greatest gift God had given her. Her infectious smile and love for others made her the special person she was. She continually spread that cheer to those around her. The first of four children, Jo Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her two brothers, Don and Scott Baker as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry Kuhn of Mocksville, her two sons, Kelly Land of Forest City, NC and Richard Land of Stanley, NC, and their father, Eugene Land and wife of Kings Mountain, and her brother Sid Baker of Reidsville, NC. Also left are her sisters-in-law Brenda Baker of Trinity, Donna Kuhn McMillan and her husband John of Iron Station, Kathy Kuhn Toler and husband Jimmie of Fairdale, WV, Pete Kuhn and Tommy Kuhn of Statesville, Garry Kuhn and wife Shirley of Maple Meadow, WV, special cousins Dixie Dean of Fuquay-Varina, Dantzlere and Glenn Currin of Fuquay-Varina, Mickie and OShea Arnold of Fuquay-Varina, niece Kasey Smith and husband Joe, nephews Louis Baker and wife Pam of Belews Creek, nephew Terry Baker of Jamestown, great-nieces Katherine and Christina Baker of Belews Creek, and Molly Smith of Charlotte, several other cousins and dear friends. In addition, her gentle canine companion, Joey is left to mourn her passing. The family will receive friends on , 19 at 2:00 pm at Sechrest at 1301 E. Lexington Avenue in High Point. A celebration of her life will take place at 3:00 pm following the visitation in the chapel of the funeral home. A graveside burial will take place on , 20 at Floral Garden Park in High Point at 11:00 am. The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn in Mocksville, as well as the family of friends who visited her over the years. Her family and friends made her life complete. Obituary: MORRISVILLE, NC: Jacqueline Joy Kuhn, 75, known affectionately as Jackie, passed away , 4, 2015. Born on 18, 1940 in Washington, DC; she was the daughter of Marion David Weide and Ella Elizabeth Criswell Weide. Jackie retired as a Manager of Customer Service in the Lighting Industry after many years and enjoyed spending her free time with her grandchildren. She was devout in her faith and active in the church for many years. She developed her friends through the church and her love for bowling, playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed vacationing at the beach and fishing with her lifelong friends, Bob and Eileen Gordon and their family. She was an avid Redskin fan and never missed a home game for over fifteen years. She and her husband relocated to North Carolina approximately six years ago and quickly developed a close circle of friends and was welcomed lovingly into the Morrisville community by her daughters friends. She is lovingly remembered by her husband: Robert Bob Kuhn; son: J.D. Kuhn and wife, Alicia, of Potomac Falls, VA; daughter: Tammy Boswell and husband Keith, of Cary, NC; her grandchildren: Ryan and Laura Kuhn and Amanda and Anthony Boswell; and by other family and friends. Obituary: Charles Russell Kuhn, 87, died of heart failure on 23, 2010 after a brief illness. Since 2005, Charlie with his wife Elizabeth (Lib) had resided at Friends West in Greensboro. A native of Raleigh, he lived for 50 years in Liberty, NC, where he was a leader in civic and church affairs. He was a former member of the Liberty Town Council, a past president of the Liberty Rotary Club, chairman of the Liberty ABC Board, and held various volunteer positions as a Deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Liberty. A veteran of WWII and a cum laude graduate of N.C. State University, he spent most of his professional life in management in the textile industry with Allsheer Hosiery Mills and later with Kellwood. He subsequently became Assistant Superintendent of the Randolph Public Schools, from which he retired in 1985. He is survived by his wife 63 years, Lib; his son, Charles Kuhn, Jr. of Greensboro; and his daughter, Nancy Kuhn and son-in-law, Roy Henwood of Washington, DC; granddaughter, Ashley Kuhn of California; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Kuhn, Sr. and Annie Kuhn of Raleigh; and brothers, Frank Kuhn, Jr. and Bill Kuhn of Spartanburg, SC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on 27 at First Baptist Church, 659 S. Fayetteville St., Liberty, with visitation at Friends s West, 6100 W. Friendly Ave., at 2:00 p.m. on 28. Private interment will occur later at Oakwood in Raleigh.
