Obituary: Linda Turner Knowles, 74, of Raleigh, NC and Oriental, NC died May 21, 2015, at Sunrise of Raleigh. Linda was always generous and kind. Many who met her became life-long friends and those who were fortunate to be in her family have many happy memories. Linda spent many years managing the law firm of Sanford, Adams, McCullough, and Beard in Raleigh, NC. In 1988, Linda co-founded QRPS, Inc. with her husband, Ross Knowles (deceased). managed QRPS, Inc. together until their retirement in 2001. During retirement Linda and Ross moved to Oriental, NC to enjoy the relaxing waters and the good friendships they had developed over the years. Linda is survived by her sister, Betsy Thigpen; brother, David Turner; daughter, Philinda Sumberg and husband, Daniel; son, Philip L Hinnant, III; step-son, Forrest Knowles and wife, Michelle; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A private family service was previously held. In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association Eastern North Carolina Chapter 3739 National Drive, Suite 110 Raleigh, NC 27612 or Pruitt Hospice C/O Terri Brantly 301 S. Obituary: Joyce Knowles 1934 – 2017 Gastonia – Joyce Gibson Knowles, 82, entered into her Heavenly on 7, 2017 with her family by her side at the Robin Johnson House. She was born in Gaston to the late Lloyd and Jeanette Hill Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Bill Westmoreland. Joyce gave unconditional love to her husband, son and grandchildren and everyone she came in contact with loved her! She was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories includes her husband, David Knowles; son, David Knowles and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Madison Knowles, Dylan Dixon and wife Sabryna; The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., , 9th at Love Memorial Baptist Church. Celebration of Life Service will be held , 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Criswell officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Obituary: Jaxie Carter Knowles, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina, formerly of Bolivia passed away , 16, 2016 at Trinity Place in Albemarle, North Carolina. Mrs. Knowles was born 17, 1926, daughter of the late Arrel Adicars Carter and Bessie May Hollingsworth Carter. She was wife of the late Methodist minister, Reverend Russell Knowles. Mrs. Knowles was a dedicated member of the Eastern Star. She loved to sing at church and many other events. She was preceded in death by a daughter Bonnie Langston in 1977 and two step-sons, Russell Ray Knowles and Rodney Knowles. Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Shoe and husband Larry of Albemarle; two grandchildren, Amy and Adam; and four great grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Callie, and Allayna. services will be 3pm , 19, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Bolivia with Reverend Mark Murphy and Reverend Donald Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church in Supply. Obituary: James Robert Knowles, Sr. James Robert Knowles, Sr. (Bob), 77, passed away , 30, 2010 after an extended illness. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Following high school, James enlisted in the US Army for 3 years, then pursued and achieved a bachelors degree in physics from the University of Alabama. From there he went on to work at IBM as an Engineer and retired after 28 years of service. Mr. Knowles is the son of the late Hubert Knowles and Nell Graham Knowles of Birmingham, AL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Veazey. He is survived by his wife, Billie Sahm Knowles; daughters, Carolyn Beck of Raleigh and Diane Welch of Charlotte; son, James Robert Knowles, Jr. of Hampstead; and his four granddaughters, Stephanie Knowles, Stacey Knowles, Lindsay Welch and Shannon Welch. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bill Knowles of Hayden, AL and Charles Knowles of Enterprise, AL. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM , 4, 2010 at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Avenue. Burial will immediately follow the service.
