Obituary: Donald Robert Kloe, 90, of Raleigh, passed away at his home 8, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on 2, 1925, the son of the late Karl Friedrich and Asta Midtskaug Kloe. Donald attended New York Military Academy graduating in 1942. He then went on to serve his country in the US Army, G of the 333rd Infantry Regiment of the 84th Infantry Division in WWII, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, and the 29th Division in the Korean War. He retired as Captain after over 20 years of service in both the active and reserve duties. Donald then graduated from the University of Virginia where he obtained his PhD in Philosophy. He taught at NC State in the Department of Modern Languages as a Spanish Professor, and other local schools and community colleges until his retirement. He was a member for over 40 years with Civitan, a member of the Sons of Norway, and in most recent years the REX Wellness . Donald was predeceased in 1976 by his wife and mother of his children Barbara Hensley Kloe and by wife Vivian Jordan Kloe in 2002. He is survived by his two daughters: Karen Keith and her husband Al of Raleigh, and Patricia Dorward and husband John of Chapel Hill, grandson Benjamin Neville and his wife Kelly and great-grandson David Neville all of Plymouth, MA. Donald will also be missed by special friend Myrtle Jones of Raleigh. A time of visitation will be held from 2-3 pm 14, 2015 at Brown-Wynne 300 Saint Marys St. Raleigh, where a funeral service will begin at 3 pm. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National . In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Transition Life 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607. |

Obituary: Brevard Ruth Dorothy Klock, 96. Of Brevard, passed away on , 7, 2014. A native of Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Rev. Charles Arthur and Florence Peabody Jevne. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Albert Vincent Tick Klock, and sons Stephen and Paul Klock. A graduate of Beloit , Mrs. Klock worked for over twenty years as a primary school teacher in the Detroit area before she and her husband retired to Transylvania over thirty years ago. Obituary: Dr. Gordon Kenneth Klintworth, 82, went to be with the Lord on 8, 2014 after battling cancer for the past 7 years. He was born on 4, 1932 in Zimbabwe and was the eldest son of John and Iveagh Klintworth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Felicity Tait Klintworth, and his three adult children Susan Van Vleet (Eric), John Klintworth (Birgit) and Sandra Nance (Scott). He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Felicity Lewis (Britton), David Van Vleet, Lindsay Nance, and Margaret Nance. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian, and has one surviving brother, Ian. He retired from Duke University Medical in 2014 after 52 years of service. He was the Joseph Wadsworth Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology and professor of Pathology. Gordon was invited to deliver lectures around the world and was internationally renowned in his field. He was a prolific author having written numerous published books, articles, and papers on the subject of diseases of the eye with a specialty on the Cornea. Around the year 2002, he created the website www. eyepathologist.com to help people living in rural areas around the world find information about the diseases of the eye. In 2010, the Duke University Medical Alumni Association awarded Gordon its Distinguished Faculty Award. In 2014, the Duke University Medical created the Gordon K. Klintworth Lectureship in Ophthalmology. Prior to working at Duke, Gordon earned his MD and PhD from the University of Witswatersrand in South Africa. Gordon was a member of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian in Cary, since 2001. Prior to that, Gordon was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham and was baptized Presbyterian. Gordon loved to travel, having visited many unique places such as Borneo, Iceland, and Nepal. During the 1960s through the 1980s he was a highly rated chess player and later enjoyed playing and watching golf. For fun, he enjoyed relaxing at his getaway house on Beech Mountain whenever he found the opportunity. A memorial service honoring Gordons life will be held 5:00pm , 14, 2014 at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian, 200 High Meadow Dr, Cary, NC 27511. A celebration of Gordons life will be held at The Forest At Duke, 2701 Pickett Road, Durham, NC 27705 on , 16, 2014 at 3:00pm with a reception immediately following until 5:00pm.
