Obituary: John Arie Van Kleef, age 62, resident of High Point passed away 17th at Forsyth Medical . John was born into a military family on 2, 1952 at Mitchell Air Force Base in New York. His parents were Arie C. Van Kleef, and his mother was Marie Goodwin Van Kleef. John served his country for eighteen years as a gunnery sergeant with the U.S. Marines from 1971 through 1988. His tour of duty included service in Viet Nam, serving as an Embassy Guard in Germany, and training new recruits as a Drill Sergeant. He earned his BS degree in science and middle school education. John taught at St. Pious X Catholic School in Greensboro, Jamestown Middle School, and at Guilford Technical Community on both the Jamestown and High Point Campuses. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 1323 and the American Legion. His church membership was at First Presbyterian Church in High Point, where he was currently an usher and previously served as an associate deacon and moderator of the associate deacons. John also served as a church elder and served on the Worship Committee and was former moderator of the Administrative Committee. He had a special love for gardening and animals, including his beloved dog Beau, and the study of history. On 28, 2001, he married Sharon Stover, who survives of the home. Also surviving are his daughter Kristen Perkowski and husband Brian of Westampton, NJ;two grandsons, Alex James Perkowski and Kyle David Perkowski; his two sisters: Pamela Wright and husband James of Patchogue, NY, and Dana Hanlon of Summerfield, NC; two brothers Kevin Van Kleef and wife Marilyn of Rialto, CA., and Thomas Van Kleef and wife Julie of Australia. A Memorial Service will be conducted , 28th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Broman-Fulks officiating. The family will speak to friends at a reception following the service in the Church Family Life . Inurnment in the church columbarium will be private. In lieu of flowers, please offer memorials to the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church. Please offer condolences with the family at their website www.sechrestfunerals.com. |

Obituary: Betty Baker Hogan Kleber, beloved wife of the late E. Bruce Kleber, passed away on , 28, 2013, at the Haven in Pineville, NC. Betty was born on 14th, 1923, in McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of the late Honorable Judge George W. Hogan and Cordah B. Hogan. She enjoyed gardening, bridge and spending time with her family. Betty was a Delta Gamma at the University of Illinois from which she graduated from in 1945. She was a lifetime member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been an elder at the Gary United Memorial Methodist Church in Wheaton, IL, and was presently a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. Betty and Bruce had been married for 65 years. Surviving are daughters, Candace K. Sutfin (John) and Connie K. Jarzmik (Bruce); grandchildren, Kyle H. Zarzmik, Kevin B. Zarzmik (Molly), William A. Sutfin, and Jennifer S. Mitchell (James). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
