Obituary: Marjorie King passed away on , 28, 2017 at her home in Waltonwood Cotswold Charlotte with her loving family and caregivers by her side. She was born 29, 1926 in Mount Airy, NC to the late Crockett and Viola Brannock. She was married to her beloved husband, Samuel McLean King (1926 - 1991) for 41 years. lived in Greenville, SC for over 50 years and had fond memories of fun times with their many friends. She moved to Charlotte in 2013 to be closer to family. Among those who will cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan Traver and husband Al and Jane Hurst and husband Toby and their families; and her sisters, Gerri Brown and Joyce Mills and husband Arnold and their families. Marge, as most of her friends knew her, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelors degree in Economics, Textiles & Design. She was a teacher at Marion Junior in VA and in the Greenville, South Carolina Schools. She later began working as an Interior Designer and developed many loyal customers and friendships. She was President of the Greenville American Association of University Women and was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church Greenvilles Affia School Class, Womens Missionary Union and childrens programs. A service to celebrate Marjorie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., , 31st in the sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the Missions . Memorial gifts may be made to the United Ministries of Greenville (www.united-ministries.org). |

Obituary: Mrs. Marie Estelle Morton King, 97, of Denver, NC, formerly of Charlotte, passed on , 11, 2015, in her home. A service to celebrate her life will be held , 14, 2015, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28215. The Reverend Joe Brown is officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, , 14, 2015, at the church preceding the celebration of life. Born 25, 1917, in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. King was the daughter of the late Harley Calvin and Tallulah Belk Morton. She was a charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. King taught swimming to special needs children at the Johnson Memorial YMCA for 25 years. She was the beloved matriarch of a multi-generational family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Samuel Johnson King of Denver, NC. Survivors include her five children, Patricia King Dinger and husband, Donald, of Fort Worth, TX, James Stuart King of Charlotte, NC, Rebecca King Goudy and husband, Richard, of Longs, SC, Brenda King Egnor and husband, Max, of Fort Mill, SC, and Andrew King and wife, Colleen, of Harrisburg, NC; her 14 grandchildren, Cheryl Dinger Lasater, Donald Ellsworth Dinger, Jr., Laura Marie Dinger, Wendy King Wardlaw, Amy King Furches, Christi King Parshall, Brittany King Guy, Wayman Dixon Goudy, Tsali James Goudy, Stephen Andrew Goudy, John Hunter Egnor, Jennifer King Rapacciuolo, Amanda King Coco, and Drew Cholmondeley King; 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
