Obituary: Stella Carlyn Kraft Killian, a very kind, benevolent and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed from this life on the morning of 4, 2016. Carlyn was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lee Killian, Sr. and her parents, Jacob Christian Kraft and Stella Ubele Kraft of Savannah, GA. Carlyn is survived by her children Lee and Karen Killian, David Killian, Mary and David Bowman, Carl Killian and Steve Killian of Charlotte, and step sons Ron and Brenda Killian of Spartanburg, SC, and Fred and Elisha Killian of Quinby, VA. She is also survived by a brother George Kraft of Savannah. She had 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Carlyn was a very loving person who enjoyed holidays and family gatherings. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her caretakers, Astrid Peterson and Rachel Stockton of Comfort Keepers who provided Carlyn with wonderful care. Obituary: Robert Lantz Killian, age 98, of Charlotte, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away May 11, 2015. services will be at 12:00 Noon, , May 14th at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, Reverend Gary Bryant officiating. Visitation will be one hour (11-12PM) prior to the service in the Church Parlor. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West with Military Rites. Mr. Killian was born in Daniels Community, Lincoln 27, 1916, son of the late David C. and Bessie Lantz Killian. He was a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, Elder Emeritus of the church, graduated from Appalachian State Teachers Class of 1937. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps and later the USAF Reserves retiring in 1976 having attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. Mr. Killian was actively involved in his church and American Legion sports programs. He was an avid gardener known for prized tomatoes He enjoyed family outings, genealogy, sports and reading. Mr. Killian was a retired Postal Employee. Surviving are daughters, Betsy Huneycutt and husband, Sherman and daughter, Roberta Hipp and husband, Lee, brother, Dr. William D. Killian, nine grandchildren, Cindy Zidanic and husband, Matt, Camille Carter and husband, Nathan, Christin Walenczak and husband, Jimmy, Carmen Lemire and husband, Justin, Andy Clarke and wife, Meredith, Brandon Clark and wife, Kim, Jenna Shorter and husband, Jonathan, Keely Rademacher and husband, Jesse and Kent Hipp and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Finger Killian, brother, Frank Killian, and sister Elizabeth Mosteller. The famillly wishes to express appreciation to the Staff at Atria Merrywood where he resided for several years. Obituary: HICKORY - Norman William Killian, 91, passed away May 2, 2011 at Lutheran East after a period of declining health. Norman was born 10, 1919 in Catawba Co. to the late Albert O. and Cora Sipe Killian. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Elsie Killian and Clara Kanupp and 2 brothers: Gaither and Paul Killian. Following an illness as an infant, Norman was left blind and mentally handicapped. His parents, family, friends and many in the community (especially his church family at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church) helped Norman enjoy a meaningful life on the little farm where he grew up. His sister, Clara, assumed his care after their parents died, allowing him to remain on the farm. Norman enjoyed being out of doors except during rainy or snowy weather. He loved being around children and the various little dogs which became his pets and companions over the years. The family is thankful to all who have made Normans journey through life more enjoyable. He truly was a child of God in every sense of the word. Surviving are a sister: Pauline Killian Kiziah of Lutheran , brothers: Ray Killian of Charlotte and Bill Killian of Raleigh and a number of nieces and nephews. Norman was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church where services will be , May 5, at 4:00 P. M. with the Reverend Scott Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:45 until 3:45 P. M. at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4420 Rd., Conover, N. C. 28613 or to Lutheran -Hickory, 1265 21st. St., N.
