Obituary: Mary D. Killian Loving Mother and Nanny Canton – Killian, Mary D., 77, passed away suddenly , May 16, 2015 at Haywood Regional Medical . She was preceded in death by her husband; Lamar E. Killian and one daughter; Anita Louise Waugh, who just recently passed. Mary is survived by her three daughters; Libby (Doc) Abernathy of Cherryville, Debbie (Bill) Knapik of Waynesville and Sharon Riddle (Kenny) of Canton, a sister; Doris Taylor of Marshall. She was a loving grandmother to eight and great-grandmother to many. Mary was a native of Madison and a hard working woman of the Baptist faith, who persevered through most everything. She retired from American Enka with over 30 years of service. Reading, gardening and visiting with folks and having visitors were the joys of her life. She was a very dedicated and excellent care giver for her husband for many years. Mary so dearly loved her family, she will be deeply missed. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. , May 23, 2015, at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Service Chapel with Rev. Garry L. Rogers officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mary D. Killian to Smoky Mountain Cremations and Services. Obituary: Marty Wayne Killian, age 45, passed away on , 4, 2014 at The stead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood , he was the son of the late Shirley Gene Killian and Brenda Gail Jenkins Killian. He was formerly employed by Haywood Community as a financial aid specialist. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member teaching school and Awana. Marty was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching North Carolina Tar Heels and Atlanta Braves. His pride and joy was his family, most of all, his son. He will be remembered for being hard-working, humble, and dedicated to serving the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sandy Killian; son, Aaron Killian of Canton; sister, Tracy Barger of Louisville, Kentucky; brother, Charles Killian of South Carolina; aunt, Pat Henline of Clyde; and several nieces and nephews. services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on , 7, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Obituary: HICKORY-Mae Setzer Killian, 85, left her earthly home on , 17, after a period of declining health, to join her heavenly father surrounded by family. She was born on 24, 1930, in Catawba to the late Hoyle and Blakie Hawn Setzer. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ned and Rhyne Setzer, and sisters, Mary Fish, Katherine Buchanan, and Dot Reed. She was a member of St Stephens Lutheran Church, (Missouri Synod) where she assisted in making quilts for Samaritans Purse and preparing foods for church functions. Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially took pleasure in being outside and working in her vegetable and flowers gardens.Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Worth Killian and sons, Stephen and wife Debbie and David and wife Debbie of Hickory; Grandchildren, Traci Vasquez of Newton, Bryan and wife Crystal of Franklin, NC; Tyler Killian and Kristen of Hickory; Boni Killian of Hickory; and Anna Killian of Hickory and six great-grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive on , 20, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) in Hickory from 1:30 to 2:45. The service to celebrate her life will follow at 3:00. Burial will following in the church . Pallbearers will be Tyler Killian, Bryan Killian, Allen Killian, Greg Hefner, Greg Reed and Gary Setzer. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers for their service and compassion in caring for Mae. Special thanks are also given to the Grace Team of Catawba .
