Obituary: Elder Elmer Kirksey, Sr. was born 17, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry and Lillie Kirksey. Both preceded him in death. He was the youngest of two children. Elder Kirksey, Sr. received his formal education in St. Louis Public School System and was employed with the United States Postal Service. On 30, 1985, he was united in holy matrimony to Patrice M. Whittington, they were married for twenty-five years. God blessed Elder Kirksey with seven children, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Elder Elmer Kirksey, Sr. was saved and received his spiritual training and development under the tutelage of Bishop James A. Johnson, Pastor of Bethesda Temple Church. He served faithfully under this ministry as Vice President of the Young Department and Assistant Pastor. He had a heart for evangelism and a passion for the saving of souls. In his early saved years he worked with the prison ministry under the leadership of the late Evangelist Nealy Hill. He did extensive outreach for his local church, the Midwestern District Council and the surrounding areas: Mt. Vernon, IL, Washington Park, IL, OFallon, IL, Alton, IL and Festus, MO. Elder Kirksey graduated from Sun Grove Bible , 1983 with an A Average. On 15, 1983 he was ordained under the late Bishop P.L. Scott at the Lively Stone Church, during the Midwestern District Council. He served the Midwestern District Council as Assistant Treasurer, Altar Worker and on various committees. He also served as an instructor at the L.C. Clark School of the Word. In 1991 Elder Elmer Kirksey, Sr. was elevated to the pastorate of Christ Temple on the Rock, He faithfully ministered and served the people until his health failed. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his beloved and devoted wife, Evangelist Patrice M. Kirksey; three daughters, Alicia, Felicia (Leon), and Charmin; four sons, Elmer Jr., Joshua, Caleb and Christian all of St. Louis. MO; twelve grandchildren, Rajah (Dale), Deshauna, Brandon, Paris, Robert, Nicolas, Bria, Lauren, Sharay, Cheron, Alexandria, and Prentice Jr.; three great grandchildren, Dale Jr., Daysha, and Dakota; one brother, Henry Jr. (Shirley); two aunts, Idella Kearn, and Magnolia McNeal; three sisters-in-law, Karen, Renalda (Samuel) and LaVonda; one brother-in-law, James (Debbie); one special godson, Mark Morgan; one special sister, Pastor Natalie Starr; best friends, Bishop Lawrence Brown, Jr. and Pastor Ron E. Stephens, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and especially the members of Christ Temple on The Rock Church Family.
