Obituary: Klemens Kazaniecki, age 98 and a longtime resident of Warren, Michigan died , 24, 2014 at Heartland care Rehabilitation facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Klemens was born in Poland and served in the Polish Army before becoming a Prisoner of War during the German occupation of Poland. Following the war Klemens worked in Germany to restore some of the infrastructure and also assist with prisoner releases at the work camps. In 1945 he immigrated to the United States and eventually landed in Michigan where he began working as a baker with Oaza Bakery in Hamtramck. Klemens worked for many years as a baker before retiring. When Klemens was not working he enjoyed tending to his garden, growing both vegetables and flowers. He also loved to play the card game Pinochle and was an avid Detroit Tiger and Detroit Red Wing sports fan. In his younger years he and his wife were devoted to their church, St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren, along with their two children. Klemens prayed the rosary often and never forgot about his homeland of Poland, however, after the devastation that Communism caused to his family, he chose never to return, but continued to stay in contact with his siblings. Klemens also never turned down the chance to enjoy Polish cuisine. Klemens was the beloved husband of the late Lillian, and is the dear father of Nancy (James) Fox, and Rick Kazaniecki. He was the loving grandfather of Michelle (Jeff) Kostusyk, Allison (Chris) Leman, Brittany Fox, and great-grandfather of Trevor and Paityn Kostusyk. Klemens is further survived by his last two remaining siblings, Helena and Jerzy both of Poland. Visitation for Mr. Kazaniecki will be from 5-9 pm and from 2-9 pm, with a 6:30 pm Rosary Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 1/2 mile). Mr. Klemens will lie in state 9:30 am until the time of the Mass 10 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile in Warren. Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org Please share memories of Klemens in his memory book. |
