Obituary: OLD TOWN--Elizabeth Lee (Arsenault) Keane, 75, , died peacefully on a sunny 14, 2010 with her loving family at her side. Never has such a petite woman commanded such love and affection from such a large and extensive network of family and friends. Betty was a priceless gem; a kind and gentle person who would give you infinite love and attention, then ask if you needed anything else. She was a dedicated wife, a wonderful mother, and a timeless friend. We will truly miss her. Betty was born in 15 1935 in Old Town, Maine, a daughter of father Phillip and mother Etta Arsenault. She attended St. Josephs Elementary School and graduated from Old Town High School in 1952. In 1954 she met the love of her life Robert, and they were married 4 1955 and started raising their five children. Bob was from New York City and Betty immediately enriched the lives of his entire family with her kindness, grace, and love. her children were grown, she started a long and successful professional career as an administrative assistant of Student Affairs at the University of Maine touching the hearts and lives of thousands of college students. She had three great loves: her extensive family, ice cream, and games, especially crossword puzzles, trivia, and cards. Betty was an original, a ferociously stubborn woman with the rare combination of beauty, kindness, and compassion. She loved the outdoors, adventure, and travel, especially with her family, and she loved trying new things, including becoming an avid skier, exploring Alaska and Canada with her motor home, and fearfully hiking scenic mountain trails. She was proud to say that she completed the trifecta of Maine outdoors: climbing Kathadin, canoeing the Allagash, and biking carriage trails of Acadia. She had aspired to be a writer, a scholar, and an international traveler, but instead she preferred to devote her immense talents and energies to raising her children and grandchildren. Ever committed to her faith, she was a life-long catholic and attended church regularly to pray for her family and husband. retirement, she dedicated her spare time to charity, the Old Town Museum, and the KC Auxiliary, working tirelessly at her churchs food pantry, always deeply concerned about the poor and unfortunate. She is survived by her husband Robert E. Keane of Old Town, son Robert E. Keane II, wife Elizabeth and granddaughters Hannah and Holly of Missoula, Montana, son Steven P. Keane, wife Marie and grandchildren Katlyn, Molly, and Matthew of Bethel Maine, daughter Kathleen M. Benoit, husband Thomas and grandsons Patrick, John, and Philip, of Orono Maine, son Gary J. Keane, wife Theresa and grandchildren Meghan, Rachel, and Sam of Dover Foxcroft, Maine, and son John P. Keane, wife Mary and grandchildren Lauren and Robbie of Bradley Maine, sister Joan M. Brissette of Bangor Maine, Brother John Arsenault and wife Leota of Old Town Maine, and sister Rosalie A. Blenkhorn and her husband Gary P. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. She had many devoted friends, which included her lifelong relationships with members of the Jolly Juniors, Card Club, and the Redhats. A visitation will be held from 7-9 PM on Nov 16 at Birmingham 438 Main Street Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, non-perishable food items can be donated to Bettys favorite charity, the food pantry at Holy Family Church. A food collection box will be available at the visitation and at the parish hall. Condolences may be left at www.birminghamfuneralhome.com |

Obituary: CAPE ELIZABETH - Una Lindsay Kazilionis, 93, passed away peacefully on , 15, 2017, after a long life filled with fun, family and friends. Born in Leeds, Maine, Una was the second daughter of Harry and Edna Additon Lindsay. Together with sisters Lenora and Genice, Una grew up on the family's hilltop farm on Bishop Hill Road. Farming was a family event, with Una riding one of their horses bareback to plow the large vegetable garden, or picking blueberries from their many bushes to box and sell to local grocers. The farm occasionally became a bed & breakfast, as the Lindsays welcomed out-of-state visitors who brought their children to Camp Tekakwitha, a summer camp just down the road. The Lindsay girls helped their mother serve the guests. Edna taught Una to cook, bake, crochet and sew; skills Una shared with her own family. Una was a talented student, skipping a grade at her one-room elementary school. When she entered secondary school, she attended Leavitt Institute located in Turner, boarding with her uncle Dr. DFD Russell and her aunt Alice, at their home in Leeds . At Leavitt, Una was able to pursue her love of music, playing the saxophone as well as Spanish and Hawaiian slide guitar in the school band and singing in the chorus. She continued to succeed in academics, and when she graduated from high school, she had not yet turned 17.Una was determined to go to college! She was younger than her peers so her parents and Uncle decided to enroll her in Westbrook Junior in Portland. While there, she studied secretarial sciences and continued to sing in the college chorus. In 1942 Una graduated and immediately sought work in the Portland area. Shortly after graduation, Una was hired by Hub Furniture in downtown Portland as an administrative assistant. There she met the love of her life, Wladislaus J. "Mike" Kazilionis. Una and Mike were married in 1952 after a 10-year courtship. of 2012 marked their 60th wedding anniversary and the 70th year of their life together. Following her time at Hub Furniture, Una went to work at Nelson & Small, where she worked for over 50 years as an administrative assistant and benefits coordinator. She worked part-time when her children were in elementary school then full-time for years, reducing her work schedule later in life and retiring at the age of 75. Together, Una and Mike pursued their love of international travel, initially as hosts on trips with Nelson & Small, then on to their own destinations such as Hong Kong, Australia and Russia. When Mike connected with his father's relatives in Lithuania, Una joined him on his second trip to meet that branch of the family. Family was the center of Una's world. Her large extended Additon family regularly gathered for holiday meals, laughs and card games. As her own family grew, the Lindsay farm became the summer and fall destination for get-togethers with her sisters, their husbands and their children. This tradition continued beyond the farm, with Thanksgiving gatherings that often included 40 relatives. Una loved visiting her children and grandchildren wherever they were. There was nothing Una and Mike loved more than spending time enjoying the view and sea air from the porches of their children's cottages on Penobscot Bay. Una continued to be adventurous in her later years with an unparalleled zest for life. She would go anywhere, anytime, at the drop of a hat; almost every invitation was immediately accepted with a delighted, "Sure!". We will remember Una for her abundant optimism. She had a rich and infectious laugh, and a warm and welcoming personality. Una was always open to a spontaneous invitation and thrilled by an unexpected visit. She was smart, savvy and contemporary, always interested in current events, fashion trends and pop culture. Her family is grateful for her love and quiet strength. Most importantly, Una consistently exemplified the meaning and value of family, perhaps her greatest gift to her children and grandchildren. Along with her parents, Una was predeceased by her husband "Mike", sister Lenora Clifford and husband Roscoe of Auburn. She is survived by her sister Genice Bugel and husband Joseph of Auburn; her son Stephen H. Kazilionis and wife Laurie Orfaly Kazilionis of Portland, granddaughter Danielle Petty and husband Jason of Greer, SC, grandson Mark Kazilionis and longtime girlfriend Hannah McComish of Grey, and granddaughter Dayna Kazilionis of Portland; her daughter Susan Kazilionis Murphy and husband Robert of Byfield, Mass., granddaughter Jessica Murphy Shuttleworth and husband Adam of Middleton, Mass., granddaughter Jacqueline Cunningham and husband Garret of Haddonfield, NJ; and her son Paul D. Kazilionis and wife Christina of Hobe Sound, Fla., grandsons Pierce and Paul II, and granddaughter Siri. Una also is survived by great-grandchildren Addison and Noah Shuttleworth, Jordan Petty, and Roman Cunningham; as well as several nieces and nephews, their children and their grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Village Crossings, Cape Elizabeth, for the care and comfort they provided to Una for the past 3+ years. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on , 26, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes , 199 Woodford St., Portland, Maine. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on , 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 699 Steven's Ave., Portland. A graveside service will follow at Calvary in South Portland. Please visit www.jonesrichandbarnes for further information and to sign Una's guestbook. Donations in Una's name may be made to: DFD Russell Medical s 180 Churchill Rd.
