Obituary: The family of Lawrence Rudolph Kluka is sad to announce his passing on 6, 2015, at the age of 87, with all his family by his side. Mr. Lawrence was very dedicated to his family, church, and community, as shown by his many religious and civic memberships. He was a member of the Ponchatoula JayCees, Civitan, Holy Name Society, Kiwanis, Toast Masters, and American Legion. Mr. Lawrence became a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hammond in 1950, served as Grand Knight; instrumental in establishing the Inaugural Father Vander-Hayden Council 4874 of Ponchatoula in 1958, and served as the first Grand Knight. He was a Fourth Degree member of Father Martin General Assembly and served as Faithful Navigator and Comptroller. He was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Lawrence served on the Tangipahoa Parish School Board for sixteen years, served as president for several years, also served as commissioner of Ponchatoula Housing Authority for many years, and retired from Bell South after forty years of service. Mr. Kluka is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Beulah Beauchamp Kluka; children, Karen Slocum, Paul Kluka (Karen), Sylvia Hebert (Dale), Virginia Bordelon (Errol), Evelyn Meier (Gregory), sister, Catherine Harper, thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Robert and Rosalie Koerin Kluka. Visitation on , 8, 2015 from 6 pm until 9 pm, with a 5:30 pm recitation of the Rosary at Harry McKneely & Son in Ponchatoula.Visitation will resume on , 9, 2015 from 8 am until 10:30 am at the followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, celebrant, Fr. Paul McDuffie, and a eulogy by Deacon Larry Melancon. Interment will be in the Wadesboro Catholic . Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Heath Slocum, Dustin Bordelon, Brennan Kluka, Joseph Meier, Chase Bordelon and Dakota Bordelon. Obituary: Elsie Levine Kloppenburg passed away on , 19, 2013, age 95. Beloved wife of the late Edward A. Kloppenburg, they were married for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Henry, Sr. and Catherine Levine, her sister, Esther, and brothers, Allen L. Levine and Henry A. Levine, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Reich of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, La. until 2005. She worked as a dental assistant for 30 years, and her faith in God was foremost in her life and she was an active parishioner of St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church and a member of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, and a member of the 3rd order of Mary. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Manor and St. Catherines Hospice for the care given to her over the years.
